Just an update. Dropped car of Monday night to make sure it was put inside. They Have had it now 3 days. The general manager who is a close friend of mine just called and said its a wiring issue. They think they have it somewhat pin pointed he said, but parts need to be brought in. Said their is a short somewhere. Couldn't get alot of detail cause I'm at work and can't be on the phone long. Told be to be patient and they will get it figured out. Fingers crossed it all works out. Sucks I've had the car 9 days and its been the shop 3. Thank god it has the warranty. Previous owner had same problem, but thought it was fixed. I think he complained so much they extended the warranty to 40000 miles or Nov. 11 2021 bumper to bumper, and warranty goes with the vehicle. Only reason I purchased this car because of the protection.
It's official. Said they are putting in a black wire that runs the length of the car. Possible short somewhere along the way. Said its time consuming process. You have anymore info to add to what this black wire that runs the length of the car is?
No idea what the black wire is. Maybe somewhere along the way the insulation has rubbed off and is intermittently causing a short. Hopefully you dont have pesky squirrels chewing on your wires
Since they obviously know where the wire starts and where it ends, I would run the new wire inside the cabin (external and visible) for now and drive the hell out of it. If the light stays off then I would go to the trouble of gutting the interior to run the new one. But, ur under warranty so its all on them.
Hope they get it fixed to your satisfaction! Keep us informed, maybe someone will chime in on the wire ID.
Well bad news check engine light is back on!!! ugh!!!! Guess I'll take it back in next week. It has to be electrical. Car runs flawlessly. Love this car but god I hate seeing the check engine light on while driving.

The CEL is a mixed blessing, as it says SOMETHING Is wrong, but you're left in the dark about WHAT it is without a code reader...
I saw my first CEL in my Acura CL-S about halfway from Barstow to Vegas (i.e.; middle of NOWHERE)... No abnormal gauge indications nor noises, but it was butt clenching till I could find a shop to get it checked... turned out to be the gas cap O-ring was cracked... $38 for a new gas cap and I bought my first code reader the same day.
Hate to bring up my old thread cause I thought I was moving in the right direction, but nope. Got my code reader that you all advised and it threw the code p2435. They have had it the last 2 weeks. Thought they had it fixed with a new ground wire. Got the call today that they fired the car up and check engine light is back on. They said will now request an engineer from GM to come and see what’s going on. He said not sure on timeline. This sucks. Car is been in the shop more than in my garage. Fingers crossed this gets resolved. Sorry for long post, just really bummed.
I still have full warranty till nov 11. They have to fix it right? Or what?
do you have a power train or an extended warranty? They will fix it but depending on the issue, you may be paying. I had a CEL on my pickup and it was not covered under powertrain warranty coverage. Your fault may be a simple fix or a new Power Control Module. Typically stealerships try the easy fix first.
That's what I would do, pay it forward because it looks like the previous owner just dumped the car on the op as it seems like the previous owner never disclosed this problem until the op called him out on this. Now the dealer has no clue how to fix this and is calling in a GM rep. Car may run great but I wouldn't want it. Good luck op!
Another update. To say I’m not upset is saying it mildly. So they’ve had the car 5 weeks. Engineer came in and said it was a chassis module. Finally got the part. Tech drove car honmeand back last night. Woke up this morning excited about getting g the car back and guess what? The freakin check engine light came back on throwing the same code p2435. Told me it could be 2 more weeks calling the field engineer again to come in. Literally I’ve owned the 3 months and it has been in shop half the time.
I respect your calmness, this would be frustrating. I believe since the issue has been documented under warranty, it doesnt matter if the warranty expires and they haven't fixed it. Good luck, keep us posted.
