OK, I recently purchased a week ago new to me a 2015 Shark Gray z51 7speed manual. I absolutely love it!!!! Flew into Chicago and drove her home to southern Indiana. Previous owner said he had an issue with the ignition, because of a 2mm low voltage is what he said. Had ignition replaced. He drove it a few times over those months before I bought it. He would only Drive it one way to work let it sit and drive it home on nice days. So check engine light never came on.
Well when I got home from my drive and took some people for a ride, I would turn car off in between rides. Well the check engine light came on. Called previous owner and he was very upset and apologetic and explained that's what it did to him. He said let it sit 8 hours it will go off. It did. Drove it again with no light on, stopped and got gas, and the check engine light was back on. It has done it several times. So I just dropped it off at my local dealer of course, and for the life of me couldn't get the check engine light to come on. Hopefully it comes on while they have it. It still has a warranty which is nice. Any thoughts from you all?
Did he to any mods to the engine? I put a ported throttle body on and would constantly get an intermittent CEL from that. Could be anything tho...and probably something simple.
For years I have had a code tester and it pays for itself. Many times on a few cars, I have seen 1 error which can be cleared and was never seen again. If you see hundreds or thousands of error hits you typically have a real problem. Just last week I had 1 hit on my Colorado, and it was due to cam sensor read triggering a spark advance. I reset it and am monitoring. Guaranteed if I ran to Chevy, a cam sensor replace would be near $1k. Having a tester gives you some real data to make better decisions with real problems. The internet is loaded with code fixes for most cars. I had Hyundai some years back where the code was against a fuel flow sensor. Hyundai wanted around $500 to replace......I did it for $56 and an hour of my life.
Thanks for all the reply's. Very excited about being on this forum. Was a part of SVTperformance for many many years. So much great info on this site. This Corvette is an entirely different animal than my last 03 cobra. I'll keep you all posted on what they find out. Thanks again.

sounds like you need to run hard gets some heat going in the engine. That’s what cured mine, I was babying it to much. Lol
Welcome, I used to frequent SVTperformance back in the day when I had a 98 Cobra and then an 03 Cobra (Terminators were so much fun back then!!). I'd agree with the recommendation to get the codes read either by the dealer, OnStar (if you have the subscription just push the blue button when the CEL is on), or at Autozone or someplace like that. Once you have the code/s you can better tell what the issue is. Given the time it takes to make it go away, I'd guess something in the emissions system is awry which the dealer would be able to deal with under warranty potentially depending on what it is.
Get yourself the OBDCheck BLE from VeePeak and the DashCmd app for your phone and you can check codes pronto and clear them as well.
I just had my center console out to replace the shifter, fired it up after re-installing everything and had a CEL. Plugged the VP OBD unit in, fired up the app and knew within minutes what the code was. Cleared it and all has been good since. Threw a code for the mode switch low voltage (had it unplugged and fired up the car post shifter install).
Hope they find something simple for you, I'd hate to have a nice car that I have to let rest for 8 hrs! Good luck!

cool!! I’ll check into it. CEL is staying off!! Been running it hard!! Thanks man!
This may have been combined with another thread. They think it may be a black wire attached to the battery. They said it runs the length of the car. Does that sound right?
Buy a cheap code-reader anywhere... Harbor Freight, amazon, etc. and read it yourself. Most will have a book with codes listed or you can get them online (like here). That way you'll get some idea what is likely going on before trying to deal totally blind with a dealer who may be even worse off. Good luck and ENJOY!
A cheap code reader from Harbor Freight will show you the basic codes that may pop up, your Chevy dealer has more expensive diagnostic equipment to read codes, they don't need to actually see a live code, they can go into the cars history
I have this issue repeatedly in my 2015 C7 Z06 manual. Twice I took it to the local Corvette shop and they said the issue was really a non-issue. They reset the code, and later it comes back on - and off for no perceivable reason. I bought a tool to turn it off when I feel like it. I pretty much ignore the light now.

What tool you speak of? Is it what everyone else said to get from above or something different.
