When you buy the Range device for your car, make sure that it has the most current software update. If you buy directly from Range you will pay a little more but it will be up to date and they will exchange the device if it goes bad. If you buy a used one they will not cover it or update it.
Ok. I'll do that. Good to know.. Do you happen to know the website for range?
What happens to your fuel consumption with these throttle advancing devices? There's got to be a reason or two why GM governs/retards the responsiveness of the throttle. Or why else would it drag down the acceleration experience?

I've lost maybe 1MPG highway. I have no clue if I lost any city MPG as I don't check it. I didn't buy it for fuel economy, I bought it to have fun.

I think it goes without saying that; "you didn't buy it for <it's > fuel economy."
The question was; "Why did GM govern/retard, accelerator responsiveness," since it's such a night and day difference between a modified and unmodified installation of the controller/s?

I can't answer that one. I definitely appreciate the better throttle response with the Soler TB. I have mixed feelings about the Soler controller. I had installed initially but never played around with the settings. I was doing some other work and removed it and haven't reinstalled it yet.

How do you know if it has the most current software and if the unit goes bad? I bought the range unit directly from Range and plugged it in yesterday. It seems to work just fine.
I also had the transmission triple flush done and that fixed the shuddering problem.
CONGRATS on your GS
Good the Range and flush combo worked out.
Be aware of the rim issue's if your not.Not everyone have but there is a good chance you may have a issue? Hate to bring up a BAD with the car but wanted you to be aware.
Great Car,ENJOY

I think GM purposefully retarded the acceleration to avoid all these crashes like we see on Utube. You know those who floor it on a corner and end up hitting a curb, a pole, a ditch etc. It would look very bad on the company if there were so many crashes so it may be their way to prevent accidents, to show prospects and to the general public their cars are "safe". It also saves them from a ton of lawsuits I suppose.
As for fuel economy I haven't noticed a difference in the 2 weeks I've had my soler controller( I also don't check) and I drive about 1000 km every 2 weeks. If you drive as much as I do, I do not count the expense of 94 gas. I just put 100$ bills each week to fuel up. I prefer handing all these 100's of dollars to keep my sanity than to hire a phycologist for the same amount. It's a lot more enjoyable anyway.
I just bought a 17 GS with 9k miles, However it is my second C-7 and 6th vette. My experience has been ask any question you want about your new car on this or any other forum and you'll get good feed back most of the time.
I would call your local Chevy dealer or go by and talk to service guy. He can look up by Vin if your car has been serviced at a GM dealer and for what. The A8 transmission in combination with the AFM system seems to have more than the normal issues. My opinion is the shudder effect is caused by two things
1. The AFM system is crap- who buys a corvette for fuel mileage? I think shifting from 8 to 4 cycl operation creates impression of issue with A8??
2. The A8 had an issue with the Fluid GM used. It absorbs mosture which messes with viscosity thus causing TC problems.
My 2016 Z51 experienced Shudder at less than 1000miles- at that time the fix was new TC. It fixed it for about 10k miles. then GM said fix is 3 flush fluid change? which to me sounded wierd, but it worked. However, still had a little shudder when AFM was working???
The 2017 GS had the shudder. I talked to my local chevy service guy he looked it up and car had the 3 flush done in 2019. So then I got a range device to stop the 8 to 4 crap. Since then Very smooth except when downshifting to a stop.
My personal opinion is there are too many folks buying Corvettes to become garage Queens. It is hard to identify issues quickly which could be corrected in the future? because there are no miles on the cars. ie your new GS and my new GS. The other group of folks that buy Corvettes beat the crap out of them at the track? so again it is hard to collect enough data. I am not a defender of GM! but I do think they have a hard job sorting through the data they recieve. I think the A8 is an example of this.
I like the forum for sharing information, but you still need to sift through the BS. When I report I make sure it is clear when it is my opinion or it is actually what happened.
I am hopeful the A8 issues are fixed?
