Unsure. I questioned it myself. But it was from my Smartphone's Google feed this morning. I'd be pretty upset by it, but there's nothing we can do about it. The story said they (GM) will be selling the engines produced as crate engines only.
The new flat plane crank, naturally aspirated, DOHC rear mid engine along with the DCT completes the transformation from American sports car to Euro super car for those of you that wanted one of those.

I didnt want one of those thats why this 56 year old FART is keeping my front engine sports car/muscle car Corvette till I cant drive anymore!
I agree, a huge part of the enjoyment of driving a C7 is the sound of the engine. In my opinion the naturally aspirated Lt1 sounds the best, it is pure music to my ears. An electric Corvette will be fast no doubt but it will never be the same and the driving pleasure will be dramatically reduced, at least for me. The high revving engine in the C8 does not sound as good to me either.

The Base and Z51 C8 has the same LT1 engine as the C7 Base, Z51 and GS.
I'm with ya.Who wants that flat plain crank when real Muscle, and great Music came out them PIPES
HEADPHONES ONLY:
I didn't grow up here and came to the country in the mid 80s so I missed the muscle car era. I don't have any interest in reliving yesterday so I guess the answer to the question is ME. Only thing I don't want is electric cars simply because we can't refuel quickly and all over like gas. Beyond that, it would be nice to not have to hear the engine and exhaust noise and the tech advances in the car.
Power came with noise back then but it doesn't need to be that way today. Same as black smoke from diesel.

Like they say about the Harley culture, "If I have to explain it to you, you'll never understand."

Basically the same engine in the base model C8 but they do sound different from the Lt1 in the C7 , I was thinking about the Zo6 flat plane crank at around 8600 rpms.
Well I am not sure. People can choose a C7 or a C8, what ever they want to do is o.k. Some men like to wear high heels and a skirt and change their name from Don to Donna as well.
Like I said, if I have to explain it to you, you'll never understand. Your replies prove my point.
Probably true but since understanding that doesn't make it into my "would be nice to have" list, I guess it is a bonus as I won't be tied up with the past.
