I have the exact same problem and also wonder if this is normal. I don't know why it should be normal? Otherwise why would there be the AC burton then?

Thanks Vincent. At least I know it is just not mine. And why would it say a/c is off when it is really on.
The only way to make cold air from warm air is to run it through the system with the compressor on.
I remember reading about this late last year, but I can't find the thread anymore, but some people were having the same problem. I bet as the weather warms up, we will have more inputs about this issue.
AC always on if temp is on lo. To manually set, it ha to be 61 or higher

Hi Florida C7,
You are totally correct. I can confirm this: If AC temp is set to low, the auto climate will take over and compressor will turn on even when you set AC button to off. (You can still set fan speed though.) IF you set it to 61 degree or higher (one notch above low), then you can manually set the AC to turn on or off. I looked in the manual, and no where does it say this.

I can confirm other car manufacturers are doing the same logic of running the compressor independently from of the indicator bulb or control switch.
If anyone could introduce me to those who head up the GM division that's responsible for approving this to production, so I could put their sign around their neck. It's probably the same crew who came up with the seat memory!!
