Added the mag-ride rear sway

bar ( much thicker than z51 non mag-bar) and the zo7 bushing front and back, I can without a doubt feel a stiffer car, I have a event next weekend and will post if car has less sway or not, it was worth the $160.00 for the test( don't know why Gene Cully has not put a kit together yet) as I said the real test is with A7 Hoosiers on.

Day 2:
Yup... still work just great.
I do feel the car has better turn-in, and sticks really good (of course the tires help).

The organizing club had some odd (to me) plan for arranging for a "run off",
and a second "run off".
You get 4 runs in the morning;
Then based on best PAX time, the top 8 ran off.
8, then 4, then 2.
That was OK (I wasn't in that group).

But next... they did a lottery of 16 people.
Then, these 16 did 1 run... and that was compared to your
best of the morning. If you ran under it, you were out.
Of course, I did a full second better, so I was out.
They then did PAX runs for the remaining people,
to eventually wind up with a "winner".

Odd,

Anyway, my wife did a fabulous run of 52.9 in the morning;
I did a 51.2. Fast time was 48.6... with some very sticky tires
on a radical.
My one afternoon run was 50.3... just awesome.

Part of my problem is learning to drive this car, with all the torque.
So I have to dial back my aggression entering turns,
and making nice smooth sweeping arcs.
That is what I was doing in the afternoon.

But... the sway bars... I think they are a great improvement over
the Z51 bars, and I think they hold the car down much better.

I will try the stiff setting for the front bar for next weekend, and see
what happens.

You just upgraded the rear sway, along w/ stiffer bushings in rear & left the front bar as-is?

Are you going to run a square wheel/tire setup? If so, I'm betting the car will be a handful.

Thx for the info on the bushings. I think I'll try the front bushings & leave everything else as-is. That way I should be able to run more front tire. Keep in mind I'm running in SS, so it'll be on streeties.

there is only ONE front GM bar for ALL z51's, z51 mag ride, zo6,zo7. (the one on my non mag z51) i put the z51,zo6,zo7 mag ride rear bar on, along with the zo7 bushing front and rear(4 total). so right now i have the zo7 front and rear bars with the zo7 bushing on them. my hoosiers are 295/30/18's front(18x10), 315/30/18 rear(18x11), after driving around a bit yesterday i now know why they put a softer rear bar on the z51 non mag ride car, the ride is not for everyone(lol) my guess right now is they Detuned the rear bar on the non mag ride z51 for a better ride, i have a event this sunday, looking for good news, here are the part numbers for the zo7 bushing, fronts on top.

$8.00 each? sorry i never seen the bill, my friend who works at chevy dealership who did the install ( at his house) and checked my research! charged me $160.00 out the door for rear bar and 4 bushing installed. he puts up with all my nonsense( brake bleeds early sunday morning and tire remounts ) so we stick with totals. i know its cheaper this way.

Sorry for seemingly ducking out of this conversation - I've been gone for about a week for a myriad of reasons.

I will put the preliminary Pfadt bar info up tonight with measurements, etc. so we have a good option thread going here. Sounds like it will be the war of the bushings vs bars for the Z51 crowd.

So I didn't get any pictures of the LG bars when I installed them (sorry).
But I changed the connection hole in the front this morning (from not firm, to firm),
so I took some photos of the bars.

Here is the rear left link

Here is the rear right link

Here is the whole thing

Now, for the front, I could only get shots of the link ends... just can't see the whole bar.

Here is the front left link with the bolt removed from the not firm hole

Here is the front right link with the bolt removed from the not firm hole, and placed in the firm hole

Here is the front right link with the bolt in the firm hole tightened

We'll be autocrossing tomorrow, to see how much difference the change (in the front) from
not stiff to stiff makes.

Nice!

I'll get all the photos together on the AFe bars and post them here - then we'll have a good comparison thread going with pics and all of just about every option from top to bottom.

Some jackass stole my car (the BMW) along with my camera and several cards, so I've been a little set back on this.

Nice pics, NTMD8R - too bad LG can't be bothered to provide details like this on their own website ...

Anyway, really hope you're happy with the stiff setting on those bars for your autocross tomorrow.

Good luck, enjoy and POST RESULTS !!!

No need to flame a great company with quality parts for our C7!! all you had to do like they stated give them a call I did and nothing but great info on C7 sway bars. Explained right from the start C6 bar has three hole adjustment C7 two hole (front bar). The LG bar was such an improvement at VIR over the Z51/zo6 bar .

I use the Firm setting street and track C7 Z51.

I'm looking to get more understeer in my MAG Z51. What bar/bushing combination would help me get there?

A standard Z51 rear bar would be a relatively easy start.

Results from changing front bar to "stiff" setting.

Hmmmm..... not really sure, but I think I had too much front bar.
The back end would really break loose more easily around arcs and corners
(more judicious application of the "go pedal" was necessary.... more than I am used to).

My wife has asked me to set it back to "not firm".
I'll do that this week.

I was 15th out of 80 drivers today.... 3 guys in a Formula car in front (41, 42 seconds),
then a bunch of Miatas and Scions etc on A6 tires, and some other stuff.... 44, 46, 47 seconds.
I had a 48.2, so I was pleased.

But I also have my new wheels just in.
I expect the new tires for them after next week.
(Living in Canada, and ordering from the US,
we have to ship to an address in the US, then I cross over the border to pick them up
and bring them back across the border, paying our fed and prov taxes).
This is not a big deal, but it adds a day or 2 to our process, because I can only
get a couple of days a week that I can get across the border.

New tires are Toyo R888 295/30/19, 315/30/20.
So these will make a difference in handling and turn in too.

Fundamentally we only autocross
(1 or 2 HPDEs a year for fun, if they allow us without a rollbar).

Here's my best run.....

You can notice a few spots where the back end got a bit loose... too much torque, not enough grip.

Nice run!! Please keep us up to date on the wider wheels with stiffer sway bars. I'm hoping the sway bars will help with some of the rubbing issues associated with wider rims for the C7. I will try the soft setting next time I track the car.

Here is the aFE/Pfadt variety to add to the mix - finally found the card with the un-boxing photos.

Still need to find the pictures of the micrometer readings, etc. today.

truth be told, i started this thread (looking to stiffen car) because i run with two c6 zo6's that are done up right with things that have been tested and retested, they were braking my stones about the sway in my z51 non mag ride car, one T1 package the other hotchkins/koni's ect. i even had my girlfriend watching how flat my car looks in a turn compared to their's. this weekend i got the answer i was looking for and not from my girl!. i have been about 7/10th behind one and even with the other with times. during this event the slower of the two said to me sooo what did you do to your car? it looks stiffer!-- i lost a ton of sway with( 4 )zo7 bushing and one rear mag ride bar. in the end im still behind, i ran 63.79xx to the faster zo6's 63.77xx, yes its like that! i feel im there with tons less aftermarket parts. im not saying what i did is better than any aftermarket sway bar package, im saying i improved my car for $160.00 while i wait for c7 aftermarket parts to be tested and retested.
