Black Jack
Since I started modding, I figured I'd start a thread to document my shenanigans.

Not my best stock run but here are the stats..
2/26/2017 @ Northstar Dragway
7.95 @ 92.9 with a 1.87 60'.

However, I'm only a year out from buying this car and wanted to keep my warranty options somewhat open. I should back up a bit at this point and say this car is my daily driver. I don't have another primary vehicle. Also, due to certain logistical constraints, I don't have space for a "toy" so this is my hot rod.
Back to my mods. I want to be a bit conservative so I can flash back to stock to take my car in for warranty work. Obviously, there will be complications around drivetrain related warranty. So tweak and tune around the edges and keep it stock looking while enhancing where I can.
To accommodate that I spec'ed out the following...
o Ported Intake Manifold
o Ported Throttle Body
o Green Performance Air Filter
o Ported Ceramic Coated Exhaust Manifolds
o Borla Catless X-Pipe
o E85 Sensor kit /w Tune
Other than the E85, all these parts based on my research would allow me to run the stock tune with no problems. Well, that hasn't turned out to be the case. It seems that the combination of all these parts are throwing lean codes. So while getting it tuned isn't an issue in and of itself, it's going to throw codes with the stock tune on gas. Knowing that now, I should have just gone with long tube headers to make it easier to hit my performance goals.
Oh well, I'll hang with what I have for now.

EFI-Tuning is doing my remote tuning. I've great confidence in his abilities and, again, First Class service.
My ported and ceramic coated exhaust manifolds were done by SoCal Porting. I'm happy with the work they've done.
WOW! I forgot to mention the coolest looking mod, my Mighty Mouse Catch Can! Excellent quality and an important part for engines in a race environment.

21st Century Muscle Cars in Addison,TX did the install and did it great! I look forward to having them do more of the wrenching on my car.

My first time trial pass was my best run of the day and best ever 1/8 mile. 7.52et @ 95.6mph with a 1.72et 60'.
My second time trial I cut a .002 second light. :O
Here's my first round win...
Here's my second round loss...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Seriously, for now running 11.0s, consistently and all the time is what I want, not just on a hero pass. I think I'm close now. It's where I need to be for Drag Week. Oh, that's right. I managed to squeak in a registration for Hot Rod's Drag Week.

That's right, Lutz; I'm coming for you!

So that's the goal. I need to get to 11.0 in summer weather by September.
I'll be racing 1/4 mile this upcoming Sunday so I'll have a good baseline with my current mods.
Still to do...
Wideband O2 so I can get some good logs for my tuner.
Drag radials.
Practice the tree at night.
I'll see where that gets me. Stay tuned.

Cajun
Our 15 A8 Stingray went 11.1@125.5 on 93OCT with Halltech, our ported INT/TB, TSP 1 7/8 and our tune. That was with 1.67 60ft and the trans shifting soft 1-2 and 2-3. We are still #3 on the fast list even without E85

Had lots of fun. I need to go 15:1 compression and nitro! But 15 gallons to go 1/4 mile?! :O
My first pass, I killed a blown Caddy.
I chopped that m/fing tree down on him with a .003. He went 11.1 to my 11.6. Gotta love it.
Last time I raced him he went 10.9 so he did catch me up top. :P
I beat a Hellcat too, but he punked out after I chopped the tree on him too.
(Actually on further review, I lit red.)Once I un-f my videos (Track Addict/Race Render) I'll post them up. I do have the raw on my Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAe...zmiSRCZzKOHAXg

Over the scales, my car weighed 3,310lbs (not me in it) with 3/4 tank of corn juice. Tires, Michelin PSS, were at 33psi all around.
Density altitude for the night ranged from about 750' to 1500'.
Average highway MPG on the way to the track was 27mpg. :O
My best was 11.653 ET @ 121.37mph with a 1.754 ET 60'.
My worst was an 11.781 ET @ 120.98mph with a 1.863 ET 60'. That was the only run I didn't use launch control. I tried Tour setting and pedaling it off the line but just too much wheel spin. I was getting a bit of spin even with launch control.
I know I was wanting to keep this as close (looking) to stock as possible, but since I can't run my current mods with a stock tune without setting a CEL -- WTH. Sorta.
I have a Halltech Stinger-R inbound. That and a wideband installed, with appropriate logging/tuning, should net me two tenths.
Drag radials should net me another two tenths. I am really wanting to wait until August to put on DRs so they're fresh for the ~2,000 miles of Drag Week, but I might pull the trigger now. A drag pack would be even better.

Driver? Could be worth a tenth or two based on what I see people saying that the launch control isn't the best way to better ETs. I haven't had any luck with that and since I bracket race, consistency is King. I'll work on it. I'm not going to crash diet either.
Long tube headers. Seems pretty obvious. They are part of my phase 2 plan. But that, coupled with my current investment in ported exhaust manifolds and Borla x-pipe, makes me want to pass on doing that now. However, it's really looking like the Quick-32 field in Drag Week Street Eliminator is going to be sub-11.
Gonna need all the help I can get. Know what I mean Vern?

I predict 11.3@123 with Halltech and 10.9@126 with 1.6x 60ft with headers w/o cats

Initially, I looked at a GoPro and tried to figure out what software I needed. But I just couldn't get any traction on that. Since this isn't any kinda priority I just kinda forgot about it.
One day, I came across the Sweet! Dang, it reads your car's metrics and adds them to the video! How cool!
My only concerns are that the OBD2 connector is proprietary(?), I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money on non-"go fast" parts (well, for now) and camera technology is like computer technology -- it gets better and cheaper every time you sneeze.
So again, I let the idea languish.
As an aside, I've spent a few years looking for the perfect OBD2 app to use for monitoring/logging what regurgitates through the OBD2 port.
There are a lot of good ones out there, but they all seem to drop short in some fundamental way. However, unquestionably the best is Torque. Unfortunately, it's only available for Android. I've used a Lenovo tablet with it and have been perfectly happy but I would prefer the convenience of using my iPhone; especially after I discovered I could use my iPhone 6+ for the camera. In the end, I'd settle for pretty much any of the available solutions for iPhone but I haven't figured out how to get any of them to report Ethanol%. So frustrating.
Then I came across this...
Track Addict by HP Tuners. The app is free and works with your iPhone camera. It is very simple and easy to use.
The basic software, Race Render by HP Tuners, is free. Upgrades are reasonably priced, especially for what you get.
My complaint with this package, is that it suffers from the typical HP Tuners problem of the software interface not being intuitive, requiring pages of detailed instructions on how to use correctly.
Even with all that, I've never gotten the file transfer via email or Wifi file transfer to work. Only thru direct USB connection. I'm sure it's me, but who knows? I've only so many hours of my life to waste, when at least one method works. (and part of the reason for this post is for me to document what I have working, so every time I try to transfer files I'm not wasting time on a method that doesn't work. Oy!)
For the OBD2 interface I'm using the GoPoint BT1. It is somewhat proprietary but integrated well with Track Addict. Plus it works with a few other iPhone apps like DashCommand and Shift-OBD2.
My iPhone camera is plugged in to the available USB port in my console with a standard Apple Lightning/USB cable.
The iPhone/Camera is mounted (landscape) to the windshield using this . The magnet system is pretty good; it's never fallen off. Maybe I'm not launching hard enough. :P
I have another sticky/magnetic mount near my radio where I usually mount my phone.
So that's it. It's a pretty tight, well integrated package that's fairly inexpensive all in; assuming the phone is a sunk cost because you already have it. The camera quality in today's phone is quite impressive.
As far as the shaking, the camera is essentially hard mounted (windshield) with little isolation. Youtube detects this and cleans it up via software but I haven't found that to be a better overall quality. For now.
Here's raw...
Here's Youtube's anti-shake software...
