In fact I tell my customers the real reason to own this mod is all the improvements in drivability and part throttle and getting rid of the lag/bog right off idle. All of that is addressed by fixing/changing the housing bore and my housing bore is so well optimized it flows the same as the trimmed blade version fully open but flows a bunch more at all the part throttle positions most people have the issues with.

Same peak flow.....much better low and midlift flow....much more responsive at part throttle.

This is a good thread with actual flowbench data should you be inclined to read about more of the science and see actual flow figures attached. It took awhile to build the fixtures necessary to do this type of testing btw....all hand made and the testing takes some time as well

Tony, your TB workmanship seems just a nice but due to cost and the fact I live in Cal I would also have to pay the high cost of tax. I think yours is about 300 plus tax and shipping. I paid 251 shipped a few months ago, I think they sell for around 300 plus shipping now. I never had a issue or noticed poor throttle response, flat spot or part throttle with the stock, just wanted to try to get maybe a 10th and 1 mph. I was hesitant to even get the TB due to it maybe hindering performance but it seems have a slight improvement and did not hurt my 60'. I was only interested in WOT at the drags without hurting the 60' and power curve.

Stock (meaning naturally aspirated LT1's I assume) still benefit from this mod....its a little more in your face with the boosted engines but once again all the poor design aspects of the factory TB still exist even with a normally aspirated engine and much like the question posed a few posts ago, ALL the upsides of a higher flowing more efficient throttle body still apply here.

In fact I have helped alot more people with LT1's recently and everyone is very happy with the upgraded unit. More responsive....better tip in throttle....reduced lag off idle....more linear throttle feel and more power from the additional 150 CFM's of airflow (about 15% over a stock unit with the same size blade....much more airspeed which always equals good things!)

I offer that 30 day trial period as well.....don't feel it was worth it just return it for a full refund....this deal is pretty much a no brainer giys....take advantage of it....there is a reason a couple of hundred other guys on this board (and others) speak highly of the upgrade!

If you even have a basic inkling or clue about flow dynamics just looking at what your removing and what your installing will be all you need to understand why this mod works as well as it does.

Discussion above from Tony, about off idle response. I have the Vitesse throttle controller. It got rid of the off idle problem. I run it about setting 4 of 10. Beyond that it gets too twitchy with the M7 trans. My question is how the Vitesse device would play with a ported throttle body on LT1. Would there be any point in having both?

How does the ported TB interact with a hi flow air intake, such as the one that GM is supposed to offer soon? It seems to me the performance is limited by the weakest part in the chain, so is the TB really a limitation on a stock LT1?

I have the Katech one, it really did help with drive ability. Has anyone tried a ported intake? Any noticeable difference than the tb alone?

I have Tony's MSD ported intake manifold but I also have a tune. I just installed a Vararam CAI this winter and my Grand Sport is a whole new animal. I do not have dyno numbers yet that will be in a few weeks.

I have sold a handful of ported LT1 MSD and ported OEM TB combos and my customers are seeing excellent gains across the entire operating range.

25 or so RWTQ improvements and 30 RWHP gains with even more past peak where the newer combination carries the power much flatter (this is tuned of course which is a must with the upgrade).

Good thread about both here and the Stealth top option I offer which most people love (losing the boy racer look of the intake with the logos plastered all over it!)

Anyone throw a code or notice surging after this MOD? I got a check engine code after I installed ported TB and the Vararam CAI and I am noticing some surging. the code is "...it is throttle/peddle position sensor/switch A circuit range/performance" It seems like the car goes into a "limp" mode for a bit, and then all of a sudden, goes back to full throttle. I have approximately 75 miles on it. Do I just need to give it more time?

It's likely a bad TB. I had this problem on my 2010 Camaro years ago with a PTB I bought. I had it swapped out and it worked fine (after spending $100 on a throttle position sensor :/)

I put Tony's tb on my Stingray and it does just what he claims. I had been using a Vitesse but it didn't eliminate or smooth the lag, just made response faster and then it started to throw codes and go into limp mode repeatedly, so I got Tony's tb. No desire to go back to Vitesse. Then I added a Vararam intake and no codes and no problems. A joy to drive.

I received my PTB from Tony today. I installed it along with a BMS performance air filter. Super simple to install and what a difference! No CEL. The radiator fan stayed on constant for a 10 mile trip to the grocery store. It returned to normal on the way home. I don’t know if the two are related but Im thrilled with the improved throttle response.

My fan did the same. I restarted the car and it was normal.
