From everything I read about the Range unit on this website and the Range website, I can’t understand why it would void a warranty, unless GM could show that it indeed was the culprit that caused the actual damage. It is my understanding that there are thousands of these devices being used on various makes of cars, to include GM cars and trucks. If you look at the various driving modes for the corvette, when you place the automatic transmission in manual mode using the paddle shift, it does not go into the 4 cylinder mode. The manual shift corvettes only can shift into the AMF 4 cylinder mode in the Econ mode and the new ZR1 does not have the AMF feature at all. Does anyone out there know of any corvette car owners or other make car owners that have had their warranty voided because the Range was installed on the car? What damage can the Range do to a car that cannot be done in the paddle shift mode or the Econ mode in the manual shift corvette, especially since it does not permanently change the computer. It simply does what the paddle shift mode would do and when the device is removed, the car would simply go back to having AMF capability. This is just my take on the use of the Range. Those corvette owners out there that have the devices installed on their vet, will be the true long term test. For me, I will wait to hear from those car owners that have been using the unit for a couple of years now, to see if they have had any issues with their servicing Chevy dealer because of the use of the Range AMF Disabler.
Holy spit, that's pretty obvious. It's completely different from what I hear. That's re-assuring. So now I'm crossing my fingers and hoping my Corvette will be the one-in-a-million that doesn't have problems due to AFM, but again, I won't hesitate to get the range module if I do have problems. Or I'll let it sit in the shop if it gets AFM issues and get the car replaced with a C8 when it comes out. Those things look like Ferraris!

i know this is an old thread, butb were there any warning signs, like a gentle taping or knocking sound? In your video, its really loud, i presume after the lifter has already failed. Hope you were able to repair and continue to enjoy the car?
