I'm experiencing a light surging while trying to maintain speed at lower pedal input, say about 5 to 10٪. It is more pronounced in lower gears. Is this normal?

Hello, and thanks. It is not normal, but we have heard of a few doing so. What we have heard of is so small that the RPMs don't even change, but if you know your car well you can still detect it. Please e-mail or call, we know what causes it and how to resolve it.

I had one of the few that did this as well....Have no fear Mike will make it right, sent it back and they returned me a new one that worked perfectly.

Matter of fact, Mike sent the new one out even before I removed and returned the one that was surging...they will take care of you.

I spoke to you earlier today and forgot to ask, I am going to order the TB but I already have the Vitesse TC, is there a benefit with both the Solar TB & TC being interconnected or paired together vs other brand TC?

Thanks for your call, KGrant. Not really, we have more choices (response curves) to choose from, and a slightly different look that some find more attractive, other than that, there's no strong reason to spend more on another TC.

Is there a package deal TB/TC?

Mike:

I Think I found the OEM stock / non-ported OEM TB. Here are the pictures and just want to make sure before I place order since it’s a core exchange.

I switched my Stock Throttle Body to a Ported Tony Mano Throttle Body and saw a big difference in responsiveness. However, I had been reading so much about the Latest and Greatest in Ported Throttle Bodies which is the Soler Performance Throttle Body in which everyone that tried it loves it.

Last week I received and swapped out my ported Tony Mano TB and Vitesse TC to the Soler TB and TC. I have to say "WOW", it almost took my breathe away and felt like an entirely different car. Talk about taking out the lag while taking your breathe away! The Soler Throttle Controller has has a wide range of modes and not limited to Eco, Sport and Ludicrous modes and as you dial the numbers up on the dial, YOU BE BETTER RESPECT the response and power as it can get away from you.

Keep in mind, I was very pleased with my 2020 A&A Supercharger install performance but wow, the Soler TB and TC takes it up another notch and a great combination "BUT" I know that I have to remain discipline and sensible and not get to excited and find the right settings that allows me to get on it and manage within my driving skills. I can see you getting so excited with the performance and responsiveness that you forget to respect the performance and I can see why GM doesn't unlock the true performance capabilities in the stock car as they probably don't want the liability of someone not respecting the power.

I strongly recommend Soler Throttle Body and Controller if you are in the market! The Tony Mano Ported Throttle and Vitesse throttle Controller both were a Great combination for me and if you are looking for one I will list them for sale in the near future if you are interested.

Oh Yeah, Mike, my OEM Stock Throttle core as the trade-in was placed in the mail yesterday and it says you should have by Thursday according to the tracking!

Kyle

Great report, Kyle.

I, too, have been pleased with my switch to Soler’s PTB. I currently pair it with a Pedal Commander, because of the Bluetooth phone app. When Mike adds that to his controller, I may switch.

Overall, what an inexpensive investment for an incredible return in fun! I’ve seen a lot of skeptics criticizing those of us that have installed these components. They really don’t know what they’re missing.

What is appealing about the phone app with Pedal Commander which is important enough you will not run Soler's throttle controller without a phone app?

I already have the Pedal Commander and it works great. I have the device tucked away from sight, and find controlling it with my mounted phone easier and safer.

I asked Mike @ Soler what was different about his throttle controller, and if it works better paired with his throttle body. As a true testament to him, he admitted that it really wasn’t any more effective than other throttle controllers. He mentioned, and I agree, that is very discreet, attractive, and affordable. To me, that wasn’t enough to switch.

If, and when, he introduces a Bluetooth version with a phone app, I’ll evaluate and consider it from a usability perspective.

I will add that Mike told me the same with my Vitesse Throttle Controller but after doing some reading on Controllers, the Soler has a lot more Modes to choose from and I am glad that I paired them together.

All brand combinations of TB/TC will work well together. However, it might be psychological or a placebo effect but from my perspective there is some special sauce in the Soler Throttle Controller. Also, with the Soler having the "Lu" mode aka Ludicrous mode that is not offered on the other controllers that I am aware of and the Soler has a much wider variety of modes which I think the Pedal Commander does as well but the Vitesse doesn't have the same variety but also is a very good TC.

You’re right, Kyle. The Vitesse is a good device, it just didn’t offer enough high-end settings for me. Level 9 just wasn’t enough.

The Pedal Commander (PC) and Soler have more choices, and I’m really intrigued by the Soler’s Ludicrous Mode. I keep the PC on the Sport Plus, -2, setting, and I find it just right for me.

As I said above, I may try/buy the Soler Bluetooth model when it comes out.

Thanks for answering my question. A perspective which never occurred to me.

Once I tried a few of the Soler's mode settings I have not changed it since.

You’re welcome, Elk.

I typically don’t change it frequently, but I have been experimenting with the settings since I installed the Soler ported throttle body.

I wanted to post and say thank you to Mike, I purchased a Soler throttle body several months ago and recently had some slight surging. I messaged Mike and he said the new upgraded version should fix it. I placed the order and that day he had the new throttle body and controller I ordered packed up and shipped.

Great guy to work with, top notch service and great response time

Took 4 months till I finally installed the throttle body. Only 3 drives so far, but it seems to have fixed the initial poor throttle response, which has caused many a 1st gear and reverse stall with my M7. I think I felt a little of that subtle light throttle surging today, but have to explore this more, to see if it is enough of a problem to bother me. Thank you Mike, for a great well engineered product.

Big shout out to Mike for great products, and outstanding customer service. I had previously installed Mikes TCU and was impressed with it's adjustability, however the dreaded tip in lag was still slightly apparent. I recently purchased the modified TBU on an exchange basis. The installation was simple, one thing I did was remove the throttle body prior to attempting to disconnect the wiring harness, much easier to see what your doing. Results were exactly what I had hoped for.
Returned my TB for my refund, got a message from UPS saying my return had been delivered, literally 5 minutes later I received a message from PayPal saying a refund had been issued for my core, outstanding business man,
These two items, plus dust less brake pads have made my car a very pleasant road car.

Lots of great feedback to inspire confidence here - placed my order as well! Excited for the potential of a crisp throttle response over that weirdly laggy start
