You should be able to connect to the module regardless. If the ECU is getting the signal then my idea will work. I bet if you fix your Bluetooth part, you will be able to read the content on your phone.

Your work around idea would work for you then. I verified with VCM scanner my ethanol content is reading now. I think there is something else wrong with my analyzer besides not working like the old units. No matter what I do I can not connect. That's why BM was so quick to refund my money.

Yea, BM had me direct wire to the battery to see if I could connect and I still could not. So I'm on hold till someone finds a for sure work around or I will buy the Advanced Fuel Dynamics, FlexLink.
