These are from two different books. I have a third book also. All of them say things a little differently. I did not make up bs as I was accused of. I simply made the mistake of remembering excerpts from all of the books I read several years ago. Instead of conversations on this site being taken as a car guy talking to other car guys and discussing them, it seems it turns into a couple of people getting butt hurt and lashing out in haste. Just like the threads about the GTR and "Could not wait any longer". It's too bad because some people on this site have good intentions but others just want to cause trouble.

Production-based isn't "production", is it? I read that as the same as the C5R block...it was production-based, but wasn't a "production" block they put in any car coming down the assembly line.

Not saying it isn't possible that they've changed the block design on the production units to be able to use them, but when they came out it was different.
The LS5.5R is production-based. It's a re-sleeved LS7 block.

The C5-R is a bit more of a stretch to say it's production based. It shared architecture with the LS6, but was completely purpose-built for the race program. What most people don't know is that the C5-R race block is also different than the GMPP C5-R block. The race block had aluminum main caps and other lightening. Some were linerless with Nikasil bores and others had liners.

You know, this is exactly what I'm seeing many threads and posts on this particular forum turn into. What were we talking about here? I thought the discussion began on the subject of automatics. I've seen this happen time and again here. Freaking "FORUM ****'S" or all knowing OZ flexing their muscle between their ears. I'm not impressed, in fact I find it downright disgusting and anti-productive. Foot on the Floor might be onto something.
