The Ford Gt went for around 175K new, now they went up considerably in a short period of time for a newer car. So Ford seizes on this market and has a new Ford GT 400K car because they want to make the money not have collectors, or car brokers making the money! They filled that market. I am sure R&D and the exotic materials have increased the margins but 400K??? Doubt it. So GM jumps in, same story. Corporate greed, not about car guys, its about seizing that niche market of money guys not car guys.
I am on my third GM truck in 3 years on this new platform. All of them are junk. My new Denali is in the shop for the 7th time. The parts list is stupid. Poor quality, all of them. This thing is 74K!! The Zo7 is 118K!!!! Walk into a Mercedes dealer and look at a S550. Again it's 118K BUT you can see why! GM does not make a car at this level. At this price point GM does not have what it takes. Yes they improved the product but they are not at a 100K level as some of the competition. The quality and issues arising are unacceptable for a 100K plus car non the less 350K-400K. If that is where they go, it will be a big mistake, and will definitely lose some fan base.
Maybe Corvette will have a spin off sub brand. FR C7 traditional and 400k MR ZR1 (or whatever they decided to call it) to competes with the F GT and ultra exotics. I'm okay with that. My Z06 will be the middle of the range Corvette sub brand.
Too much money invested into the C7 to kill it in just 5 years, 4 years for the Z06 case. I think both FR MR will be offered at the same time. This will keep loyal customers happy and also have a Halo car like Ford does. Maybe GM wants to one up Ford at its own game.
I love my "Ruby," but I don't see how a Corvette can sell for > $150k.
Maybe a V-series Caddy hybrid with jaw-dropping performance could get close to $200k?
Trying to keep up with the neighbors Ford in this niche is not a good idea IMO.
The pricing of the Ford GT is a special situation not related to anything or anyone else.
Their timeline is probably reasonable, but expect they'll introduce in 2018 for the 2020 model year. We'll know in 2 years if it's going to be mid-engine.
S.
McLaren 570s for 200,000.00 in BLACK and the 200,000.00 in change left beats both FORD and Chevy here. No use waiting for this one.
Yeah, that's the thing right there.
Hmmm, Chevy or McLaren?
If anyone has to think too hard on that one they should make an appointment with their shrink.

I don't see anything in the images that points to mid-engine in the proportions or stance, either. The rear view looks just like C7 currently does, to me.
