I dropped my car off at the dealer for two problems. One was a leak in the rear which turned out to be a bad trans cooler line. They replaced it. I complained about poor image quality on my PDR. The service writer wrote it up as, "freezing up." The technician wrote, updated software due to TSB and timing error.
On left is old software on the right is the new software. It has been cloudy, so I haven't had a good opportunity to compare video quality. The image overlays did not change with the update.
wondered what year your car is, I have a 16, thanks
My 2017 doesn't match either of your versions. Guess I better head to the dealer.
8850,
Our '17 GS has the same version and Cal Version as yours...... I am really disappointed in the quality of the video. Our Street Guardian dashcam takes significantly higher quality video. This isn't sharp at all.
Did you go by your dealership to see if there is a higher level revision?

I'm disappointed in quality too. My $150 camera takes much better. Have not had it back to the dealer yet.
I dropped my car off at the dealer this afternoon. I asked them to update the PDR and also replace the melted grease boot on the LCA.
Would you know if this update is supposed to be uploaded by an SD card or through USB port?
I once had PDR software update and the technician elected to go through USB port ignoring GM bulletin (green haze update for 2015 PDR) and that killed the module.
A friend of mine just had the timing PDR update on his car. He is having power loss issue. The technician did the update through USB port.
It's done via SD card. They plug a module into the OBDII port to read your current software. Then they wrote the update to an SD card and put it in the SD slot of the PDR.

And the 2018 PDR has a bunch of additional channels, and apparently the earlier model years cannot be upgraded to the 2018 software.
Right now, if I run a session in my 2016, I can get a file from a buddy with a 2014-2017 who ran the same track, and I can compare our runs on Cosworth Toolbox.
I wonder if I'll be able to read and compare a 2018 PDR file with my version of Toolbox and compare it to a file I record in my 2016?

I'd bet money that Toolbox gets an update before the 2018s drop; and I'll bet that update will open either file. It would be silly for Cosworth to do otherwise.
question how accurate is the PDR 1/4 mile and 0-60 in the dash? This one video I saw the PDR was .2 slower than drag strip's slip.
Also digged up some old SD cards heh, one is 256MB another mini SD card 1GB with an adopter to go into normal size SD reader. About how many I can record on the 1GB?

Those cards are far too small. For $15 you can get at least 16gb if not 32gb. Just go buy a modern card.
