I would talk to Callaway before tackling such a project. You basically have to remove and disassemble the supercharger to prepare for painting, then reinstall.
Yeah that was my thought. As I said above, I'd consider doing it if it's just a cover but I agree it's probably an integral part of the supercharger, and certainly not worth messing with just to change the color.
The owner of the car is a good fella and has owned Callaway Corvettes before, plus a Callaway Camaro, Callaway Impala (with a 6 speed manual), and now this one
good article but it still only provides the stats and numbers released by callaway themselves. Has anyone actually taken a callaway c8 to the dyno or the track to get real world numbers? I'm not saying callaway is understating or overstating anything. I am just curious what people are actually getting.
I dropped my C8 off in Old Lyme on September 10, 2024 and took delivery on October 23. 2024. Two reasons for the long lead time: 1) they had to wait for parts and 2) I asked them to delay shipment by a week because I was out of town. Regarding the extended warranty: I know! but both Tod Southerland at MacMulkin and a local dealer told me the Callaway modification excludes the car from the GM extended warranty. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Does that mean when you buy a new Callaway corvette from Ciocca or Criswell or another dealer that offers them, that those cars are automatically excluded from the extended warranty?
If anyone here has been able to get an extended GM warranty on a converted corvette, please let me know where you got it.
Fun fact: I dropped my car off at their CT facility but was told if I picked it up in person that they would have to charge me CT sales tax. Since that would cost about twice the cost to have the car delivered to my home, I opted for delivery.
Fun fact #2: My C8 is insured for declared value through NCM (American Modern). When I tried to increase the declared value to include the additional $30K for the supercharger, it was declined, even though if I had bought a Callaway corvette new from a dealer the retail cost would have been the same. Perhaps another reason to buy new.
I have no regrets since I already had a 2023 C8, given current depreciation, it made financial sense for me to take this upgrade path.
EDIT: Regarding the GM extended warranty, while two dealers refused to sell me the extended warranty, I contacted Ciocca, who is a Callaway dealer and where I bought the car and asked if they offered their Callaway corvette customers an extended warranty. They said no problem and sold me a GM Platinum plan for my converted car. So maybe the lesson is to contact an authorized Callaway dealer.

if you drop the car off and pick up in CT you hsve tp pay CT sales tax if you purchase the car in a state without sales tax, pay the dealer for the upgrade and pick up in CT you won't pay the sales tax since the transaction took place in a sales tax free state.
Those that upgraded their Stingray, what happened with your insurance? Did you tell them your car is a Callaway Stingray now or…? What happened to your insurance rate?

nothing happens to your insurance. When you give them the vin it is a normal stingray. It would be the same as if you added a supercharger from any speed shop to it. I have specialty insurance and raised the agreed upon value 30k over what my stingrays msrp was to cover the Callaway kit should something happen.

I insured my stingray through NCM for replacement cost when I got the car in 2023. A year after ownership, I had Callaway install their supercharger. NCM would NOT allow me to increase coverage to include the Callaway modification. Frustrating, because if I'd originally bought a Callaway corvette, they would have covered the entire cost.
Hagerty is best for adding insurance to mods. Up to agreed upon value, not actual value.
So I thought, but for declared value equal to replacement cost, Hagerty quoted me an annual premium that is roughly twice what I'm paying for NCM insurance.and three times that for the C8 with the Callaway modification.

I had to BATTLE them about mileage and usage, mine exceeded their b***s*** 650hp threshold they use to make it a "super car" which is total horse crap.
I insured my car to $160k (have over $220k in it) and it was roughly double state farm, but the extra 2500 a year seemed worth it to me. If someone runs into me SF will be valuing the car at something like $80k and I will be hosed. Or buying it back so I can pull the built motor and toys off the thing.
But yeah, i wound up having to talk with their underwriters. They initially quoted me like $12,000 a year. Even though its garaged 7 months a year for winter snow.
Sounds like getting it insured as an add-on is a nightmare. I put more miles on my car in 4 months than Hagerty wants you to drive in a year so that’s out.
I added an Aeroforce Interceptor ODBII gauge to my Callaway C8 so I could monitor boost, among other things.
This is what mine indicated (psi):
Engine off: 0.32
Idle: -18.5
WOT: 7.09
I couldn't find any boost specs anywhere in the Callaway literature or their website (which has very little C8 info) but I think I was told that it was around 6 -8 psi.
Anyone else install a boost gauge on their Callaway? and if so, what are you reading for boost?

How much boost ae you seeing? I've never checked mine.

My boost gauge indicated around 7 lbs boost at wide open throttle.
Not sure if this is the maximum boost but I couldn't really hold it at WOT for very long on a public road. There is a shop not too far from here that has a dyno. Been thinking about getting mine dyno'ed. If I ever do, I'll post the result here.

Thanks. That is about what I expected. I just pulled mine off of my lift to drive again while the weather is decent. I'll hook up HP Tuners sometime in the next week or so and see if it will read boost. I'm not sure if the PID for boost will show anything since the Stingray didn't come with forced induction from the factory.
