I agree. The steering feels more direct than my Boxster GTS.

I've owned Porsche's and have spent LOTS of seat time in them and there are absolutely substitutes

Amazing cars, no doubt. My GT4 was awesome and I loved it! But there are lots of cars as good or better and, IMO only, the C8 is better than the GT4 and the 991.1 GTS (the only non-GT 911 I've extensively driven). The GT4 sounded better and the throttle response was better but, otherwise, I would choose the C8.

It is but the pedal travel is VERY long in the car. It's surprisingly long... which is OK but I prefer a shorter pedal travel. The reality is that all of this "feel" stuff is subjective anyway

definitely agree. It is too long in the C8. Maybe Its a historical relic to help modulate the burst of power with resulting oversteer in older corvettes.

I've tracked a lot of different cars, and I'd say the C8's steering is near the top of the class.

Agree. Base C8 > GT4. The C8 could accelerate faster, brake faster, run the quarter faster, lap faster and there will still be the Porsche Guy saying well it's not a Porsche, Porsche still better

I love this story and it fits this thread now. I let the President of the Porsche GT-3 club of Germany drive my 2002 C5 Z06 around the 'Ring after he gave me a ride in his full caged GT-3 road car, we got on two wheels! He loved two things about my Z06 so much that he let me join the club! What did he love? The torque, of course, and the steering feel. LOL

Alright alright.... I was wrong. My car broke 500 miles and I took it for a rip in the Malibu canyons and the steering in Sport or Track is pretty damn good. I didn't want to love this car so much since I'm really into Porsches but damn.... its good for a base car! I need the Z06 ASAP

Sublime steering feel = Porsche's with hydraulic set-up. Often benchmarked, never equaled. Simpy as good as it gets.

Domestics don't have the fun-to-drive steering feel feedback magic at all, not even close. Sadly and none of the E-systems are good regardless of country of origin, simply video game stuff, algorithm based "weighting" but not the pure communication of what is actually happening out front at the contact patches. "Progress" here is a step backwards for the enthusiast.

To design masters. I absolutely dont agree with you. Since 2004 i have a Boxster and the steering (hydraulic)feel is realy great. I drove a 718 Boxster and the steering (electric) feel is much better.

Yours would be a very small minority opinion. E-assist just not real, no matter what -- both in DD mode and most pronounced in actual hard driving/track conditions, nothing beats P-car w hydraulic steering, sublime and nuanced, beauty at ones fingertips -- my guess is the algo tricked you at slowish speeds, not when car is actually pressed. If you are happy though...cheers, you might like the turbos v. NA's too, who knows, no accounting for taste or discernment.

I know it is a minority opinion. I tried the 718 in twisties. The question is steering feel and not turbos/na. No need to devaluate my opinion to boost yours.

I believe all modern P cars have electronic steering. Even small roadsters like the MX5, which has the most direct steering in my opinion is electronic. Saying the steering systems of the past are better is like saying old tubed stereo systems sound better than solid state systems. You can have that opinion, but I think you are living in the past.
