Decision to not have a C-8 Grand Sport sucks! E-Ray Hybrid is no substitute. Only thing good about this decision is that I will just keep my current Grand Sport and not be tempted to get a C-8.

Lets hope the E_Ray eliminates or at least flattens out those horribly huge side vents.
So when Jaguar develops their EV Super-car, will it be named the "Tweed"? Will it have the "Exclusive Club" option including custom leather patches and a meersham pipe?
No, it will be called Shannon “Tweed”, and be sexier than the Corvette, but will be temperamental, therefore having character.

Exact opposite for me. I have a deposit down for a 2021 C8, prior to ordering if this rumor is confirmed I will wait. If they can add 100 electric hp to the front axle the car will be a monster.
Or, perhaps, GS buyers agreed with most of the motojournal reviews of the GS, and believed their conclusion that the GS was the "best balanced of all C7's", including the Z06.
I don't doubt it (sorry, I haven't driven a GS).
I can see where the power of the LT1 is probably a better solution for the C7.
I have expressed my opinion before on this forum that the C7 Z06 has a chassis that isn't truly able to handle the power of the LT4.
I'm tired of my Z and will be getting rid of it sooner rather than later.
Just a thought that perhaps "by and large" it wasn't just a money thing or a "afraid of the power" thing as you surmise.
You're right; it wasn't "just."
I never considered those were the ONLY 2 reasons.

Not what I was used to as drove my 2014 Z5 in Track as had no affect on ride! Thankfully when I got the MRC update software could get most of that back as I drove 95% of the time in Sport.
The MRC update really does help with the harshness of the ride.
I use it on the freeway with Touring mode and it makes for a much nicer cruise.

Yep, I had to drive in Touring to get a ride about like my 2014 Z51 WITHOUT MRC that I drove in Sport and Track for those benefits. But with my Grand Sport had to live with a slow throttle tip-in for example. With the software upgrade it eliminated the hash impact when I hot a bump! For 3 years I drive 95% in Sport, 5% in Weather Mode when the temps were below 45 or it was raining. NEVER used Touring again!
This is what Tadge and company said about the the MRC Software Upgrade!
Big difference when you hit a bump! My C8 is about the same! I drive mostly in Sport, where I have MY Mode set. Heck can even use Track Mode for ride/handling, which is where I have Z Mode set and eliminates V4 Mode!
Again, the people posting that they want "100 HP worth of electric motors and batteries added to the front axle" - go watch the Harris review of the Ferrari SF90. There is alot more to the driving experience then 0-60 time.

Lollzzz same. The only thing that's keeping me from selling or trading my z NOW, is that I cant see any car of my cars value that equals the looks lollzzz. I dont care about losing the power. Hell I'll get a 1 or 2 year old m3 if it's the same value as my car but then I'd give up the looks. The looks is the only thing that's making me keep the car a bit longer. Hopefully soon c8's will be readily available to buy. I want a c8 stingray so bad right now to hold me until the c8z. Someone please trade their c8 for my z. I have a manny tranny too!!! Haha

Not a fan of the name E-Ray...
Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but i think the name E-Sport would be much better imho.
Gm/Chevy you listening??? And yes i'll be ordering one if they make it...
New Tesla Plaid out late next year for sale has already beat the McClaren record at Laguna Seca...meaning that the weight isn't as much as a factor. Car generates the equivalent of 1100 hp, 500+ mile range, 9 sec 1/3 mile, and 0-60 in 2 secs. GM better do something EV or it will just not be able to keep up with a 5 passenger 4 door sedan. I'm really hoping for a hybrid C8 like Ferrari and Acura has.
Incredibly fast or not, no Tesla has the intoxicating sound of a V-8. I'll take my 3.5 second supercharged Corvette C5 with Borla ATAK exhaust over a 2 second silent or nearly silent car (can hear the tire noise and, in some instances, the wimpy whine of the electric motors).
You really think you'll run through 250+ miles in a day huh? Hie many miles you do in a year?
If you did? You'd be around 60k miles per year mon thru Friday. Think about it? Even half of that HLAF IS 30K YEAR... AND we are only talking about performance toys. You'd NEVER run your EV Corvette down low. You just wouldn't. And again 250 plus miles in a day with it? It would be plugged in as soon as it went back in the garage.
All of that sounds like excuses to pop poo the technology because the tree huggers got there first..
Well, I recently drove my 2000 supercharged Corvette C5 on a 4400-mile 9-state vacation. Truly a dream trip, especially because I didn't have to keep stopping and recharging batteries. It's called freedom. Moreover, if I tired of listening to my music CDs, I got to listen to the utterly intoxicating sound of my V-8 engine and Borla exhaust. Try that in a Tesla or any other EV.
I live in central New Jersey and I have for supercharger stations within 15 minutes and every direction think about that for a minute.
If you live somewhere in the middle of nowhere I get it but for the other 97% of us charging is not the reason to stop you from looking at and electric vehicle and Tesla is not like a Chevy Volt or Nissan Leaf or hack anything else out there.
Your hesitation to accept electric vehicles is not unlike all of us at the beginning of some type of huge shift in the way we did things our entire lives And in the end for better or for worse nothing will stop it there are far too many good things about electric vehicles that outweigh any type of internal combustion set up
I'm no tree hugger are far from it but if there's a few trees and some pollution saved that makes even one person's day brighter because I get the go from 0 to 60 in <3 seconds uneventful and plug it in at my house so be it.[/QUOTE]
The Chevy Volt (and Fisker Karma and BMW i8) were superior to the Tesla and other pure electric cars because they eliminated range anxiety. A Volt can travel anywhere without the need to stop and recharge batteries. Here in southwest Florida, I've never seen a recharge station, so they must be well-hidden if they exist here, and they certainly aren't common. The worst consequence of electric cars will be the problems brought by the increasing need to source additional lithium. 80% of the world's lithium reserves are located in 3 hostile nations: Afghanistan (has more lithium than any other nation), communist China, and Chile (closely aligned with communist/hardcore socialist Venezuela. Think it was tough dealing with Arab nations and OPEC? You "ain't seen nuthin' yet". Imagine how much fun getting lithium from the Taliban in Afghanistan will be? Also, lithium is reportedly difficult to re-process/recycle. In addition, a growing number of environmental groups say that switching to electric cars will result in no net environmental benefit. If these groups are correct, electric cars could prove to be an expensive mistake and a waste of valuable time that could have been spent attempting to discover a breakthrough with an alternative such as hydrogen or any number of others.

Yep once we find a source of "dilithium crystals!"
"Warp drive in Star Trek works by annihilating matter and antimatter in a fusion reaction mediated by dilithium crystals. This produces the enormous power required to warp space-time and drive the ship faster than light."
Yep just a question of time! There is still hope for what started in the 1940's, the search for a viable "Fusion Reactor." After spending many billions on various projects there is always what appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel and a reason to spend billions more!
Compact Nuclear Fusion Reactor Is ‘Very Likely to Work,’ Studies Suggest
A series of research papers renews hope that the long-elusive goal of mimicking the way the sun produces energy might be achievable.

Scientists developing a compact version of a nuclear fusion reactor have shown in a series of research papers that it should work, renewing hopes that the long-elusive goal of mimicking the way the sun produces energy might be achieved and eventually contribute to the fight against climate change.
It's like some people who discover a new word and then all of a sudden try to implement that word in almost every sentence they could lol.
Same with this EV ****. No doubt it's the future. But some people rode in a tesla, now all of a sudden every topic has to go towards EV and how great it is.
I rode in a tesla, multiple times. My buddy has one in his TURO fleet. My neighbor has one. My other buddy sold his I8 for a tesla SUV. It's freaking fast. But it's also a piece of ****. And even they co-sign to all the shitty flaws i stated it has. The bad quality, rattles galore, glitches in the charging. One WOT pull destroys like 10% of the battery life lol. You do a few pulls and you need to head home before you run out of juice lol.
It's an awesome look into the future but heavily flawed. And it's humorous to think we all have to jump the ICE ship now to get into EV. The **** is still new, still premature, still needs lots of work.
We'll all get into EV when we have to and/or when it starts to get better. But tesla is a big piece of garbge lol. Elon couldn't even at least make his cars look good. They look like clay moldings lolllzzzzzz.

I'm not challenging or impugning you, but I have never heard that a WOT kills 10% of battery life. Do you mean the battery charge, or the battery life itself? If the latter, do you have any link or citation? I am interested in the topic, and if that were true it would damper my enthusiasm for an EV. Thanks in advance.

lol clearly i meant the charge. But when talking about phones, we use "battery life", not battery charge. At least myself and everyone i know say battery life.
The only evidence i have are the people i know with a tesla. And it's pretty much everything i said.
It's fast.
It's slow on charging (some people have their own opinion on what's a slow charge and what's a fast charge).
WOT pulls destroys the "charge" immensely.
Shitty build quality
Noise everywhere. Tire noise, wind noise, interior noise, random "mechanical" car noises.
Those same complaints are said by the owners themselves. I've ridden in many teslas and some are better than others. But most of which i drove are exactly what i said above.

Don't know who your friends are that own a Tesla, but I have now owned one for 10 months and 15,000 miles - Model X. NONE of what you said is true with my car. It has been updated a number of times and is a better car today then the day I bought it - wrap your head around that one. It has better range. WOT does NOT take 10% of the battery charge. The driving experience is amazing. Have not had problems with quality, rattles or charging. It actually now charges Faster than when I bought it. Your comments about looks though, does show a significant bias - the Model S? What is a better looking 4 door sedan?

EV takeover will take some time.
I'll hop on in about 10 years.
Oh, ok. Well yes, I knew that WOT runs would deplete the battery charge much faster than regular driving, but believe me the range on my C6 is vastly reduced when I drive it aggressively as well. I can pretty much see the gas gauge doing a free fall when I mash the pedal. I don't see anything special about EVs in that regard.
