This poll was intended to be about the base or entry-level price.
Correct. If we establish a consensus on the base starting price we can extrapolate higher trim and option prices from there. Based on the poll responses I think most voted correctly. Over 60% of folks feel the C8 will start at $70k or less, assuming it is a true replacement for the C7. If it is a whole new model being released then that changes things quite a bit.

We still need to figure out what base is and includes.
If the whole point of going ME is to increase performance and GM is spending the money to make a DCT only version, there is zero reason to build the current base car: the wet sump and non-ELSD require significant changes to the architecture - higher engine mounting for the wet sump over the dry sump and having two versions of the DCT to accommodate both the ELSD and the regular differential, which add cost and complexity to the car while also reducing performance.
In addition, if you look at the all of the competitive ME cars, no one builds their ME as a Grand Tourer (GT), which is what the base Stingray excels at; even Ferrari's GT's are and have always been a front engine car (812 Superfast, F12, 599 GTO, 550/575 Marinello). So there is no reason for any C8 ME to be toned down to anything less than the current Stingray Z51, which starts at over $63k for a 1LT A8.

Agreed. Personally, I think base C8 ME has to target the current C7 Grand Sport. In fact, as a GS owner I would not just upgrade to a base C8 ME for $70k unless it offered some additional value beyond just a mid engine layout. More power, lighter, MRC standard, more advanced tech, etc. Otherwise, why upgrade?
Theoretically, even if the general performance specs of today's base C7 are emulated in a mid-engine platform, you'd still have a performance upgrade in an ME platform from a handling standpoint per the laws of physics. Since it will be the same platform for base and uber models, the base gains those benefits as well.

Agreed, I guess I will need to reserve judgement until I drive one to see if I am blown away by the difference in the driving dynamics. If it starts much higher than $70k then I am probably out anyway. I would probably look elsewhere for a toy.

There are 5 models of the C7 out right now with a significant price difference
All of them share the same platform it’s all about handling and HP as the differentiated. So it will be with a C8. No mystery here.
It would be cool if GM launched a whole new model in addition to the regular C7 but I am not sure if there is enough demand for both.
Actually, after the key FOB reveal yesterday which I believe is legit, my non-scientific thoughts on this topic has reversed course and now believes because GM has been so tight lipped to date and the NAIAS show just over two months away, there will be two cars produced together that may or may not be revealed at that show. A over the top limited edition $150000+ ME Cadillac & a slightly lower priced ME Corvette along with the continuation of the C7 that may get a face lift in time depending on sales. Hey, its a wild guess but I believe no cheap Corvette ME for at least 2 years or more...We'll see if I'm right...LOL
If the MR is an exclusive model, $130K. If it's the standard and all C8's are MR, $85K. If i'm right on either, that just sucks.
My thoughts exactly.
$80-85k is my guess...its too much car to be the same price as the C7, they have to recoup costs. I think the $65k people keep saying is wwwaaayyyyy too optimistic. It's not 2005 anymore, a freaking Mustang GT with a few options hits $45k pretty easily and people want a mid engine 500hp Vette for $65k? I would love that but I'm doubtful!
How can anyone say it's "too much car" without having any freaking clue what will be included on the base car? Today's ZR1 is built on a base Stingray platform, yet various things are bolted on to that platform which raise the price nearly $80K.
To amplify; I think the drive-out price excluding taxes, for the base C8 without options, will be in the (high) $60Ks, after discount from say a Kerbeck's, or Criswell, or Mac Mulkin - the known bottom-line CF/Sponsor Chev. Dealers.
Further, I believe forum member Jerryu nailed it by guessing that the BASE list would be in the "$80K-$90K," tops with options.
Can we take possession of a new, optioned C8, for $70K or thereabouts? I think yes.
