I've never been a chrome fan. My dad just bought a new Silverado and he talks about the chrome mirrors, chrome bumpers, chrome this and that and I just laugh. It seems to be something with the 50+ age group. Which is fine everyone has their taste. I've always liked gun metal/titanium type colored wheels especially on a blue car. However the C8 not having that options makes me wonder if this is one of the ways they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd.
I'm right there with you. I love chrome wheels! I bought a one way ticket 800miles to get my rare chrome wheeled Z06/Z07. Chrome wheels get a lot more attention because they are nicer and shinier. Disappointing they don't offer chrome wheels anymore. 7spd, chrome....reasons to keep my C7.
My favorite is polished aluminum wheels, chrome are ok. My least favorite choice is black wheels. Black wheels remind me of old cars where the silver plastic hubcap came off leaving the cheap steel black wheel showing.
So I'll never buy black wheels. I do not care for the painted wheels either. But ... I respect that other folks will want a choice and it's still a gorgeous Vette even if the wheel is not my first choice.
It's funny how some of these Chrome people always put down black wheels. You guys know there are other options other than black wheels???
I don't like black wheels but you wouldn't see me starting a post gloating about it if they were discontinued. Just shows how juvenile you are. Feel free to take some time off of the forums and concentrate on personal growth. See you in a few years.
Hallelujah!! You know internally a lot on the Corvette team were embarrassed that this option was still being offered!
“Still” is the wrong word. Chrome was not offered on the C4 or the C5, it was brought back for certain options on the C6 and C7. So for more than 20 years it was not an option

Wonderful, another black wheel / chrome wheel thread. Here’s my experience...
Was in the market in early 2014 for the new C7. My wishlist included Torch Red, black leather, Z51, 3LT, CF dash, etc. Found one at a local dealer, but it was an M7 with black wheels. Haven’t had a manual in decades so I wasn’t sure. I figured I could always change out the black wheels to chrome so that wasn’t a deal breaker. Well guess what, after purchasing that C7, and seeing how many people (mainly young kids) complimented me on the black wheels, I started thinking, “these black wheels aren’t that bad after all!” Now, five years later, they’ve grown on me and I actullay PREFER black wheels. Guess you can actually teach an old dog new tricks!
Chrome wheels are not a fad as they have always enjoyed at least some degree of appeal over the years. If there's a fad it's black wheels over the last 5-6 or so years and if you take notice of tire/wheel/car advertisements they're starting to cool off.
Totally Agree. My C6 I wish had black rims on the black Vette. My C7 was cyber gray with black wheels with Carbon Flash replacing all chrome. Now ummm, well with every flipping F150 Mustang, civic, Chevy truck etc with Black on Black on Black. Well no freakin thanks for that combo for me again. I am in my 30's and will get the C8 next year but in no way am I doing the Murdered out look - Cheesy....
Hallelujah!! You know internally a lot on the Corvette team were embarrassed that this option was still being offered!
We’ve have the debate for ages. With the C7 I argued that it was not designed with chrome wheels in mind. They offered them because some (many) would buy them. But it dates the car. I can’t remember the last time Porsche(s), Ferrari(s), McLaren(s), etc. had them. Plus, I always said silver looks great if you don’t like black. Chrome gone, case closed.
So if you look at the order guide you see 5-trident spoke machine face sterling silver painted aluminum, or as machine-face Spectra Gray-painted aluminum, or as black-painted aluminum (Accessory). No chrome anywhere in the order guide.
BUT, on the Chevrolet C8 configuration online there is a ULTRA BRIGHT 5-trident spoke wheel. Is that a highly polished, maybe clear coated wheel meant to satisfy those wanting something close to chrome?
