My aftermarket wheel guy told me chrome was for old guys. I bought these for the SL55 AMG (a total POS), regardless of his advice, which I don't own anymore. It looked good, though. I like the bling on my C7 too.

Not at all. Total of $800 for everything: removing wheels, removing tires, powder coat/machine the faces/clear coat, mount and balance tires and re-install wheels. They had my car 4 days.

Whichever wheel the C8 Mules had, are the style of wheels that I prefer. The polished aluminum 10 spokes look like the 35 year old Ferrari wheels.

On the C6 forum where I spent some time, the topic of Chrome vs. Black wheels came up at least once a week and debated with MORE fervor than here. At one point (being bored with little to do that day) I looked at some data coming from these threads. This is not scientific but, from responses, those choosing chrome wheels outnumbered those choosing black wheels at about a 5:1 ratio.

There was a correlation to demographics as the majority of those preferring chrome were over 60 years of age (Not all, but a majority). That was reversed with black wheels. At least most preferring black were under 60. These same data repeat themselves over and over on the C6 forum today.

I am one of the outliers, at 69 now, (67 then), I changed my C6 wheels to black and same when I got my Bentley GT where I took off some pretty expensive chromes and replace with equally expensive blacks. The C8 direction I am going will be black wheels as well.

It's funny reading posts where some describe black wheels as a passing fad.

Witness:

Then others believe the newest fad is colored wheels:

But probably the surest bet is wood isn't coming back.....

Chrome wheels have their places. C8 Corvette isn't one of those. Looking through other ME competition, I'm struggling to find ones that have a chrome option as well.

Interesting how the same polished/chrome vs black wheel debate is even present in major racing series. Penske and Ganassi have always used the polished wheel look while teams like Andretti use the black look.

Guess it's the same with Corvette owners.

For you, maybe. Maybe even the majority. I support your right to have whatever you want. I don't support you telling me what is appropriate for me. To put it mildly, it's none of your damn business.

Are you sure they will fit? I thought the offset was different.

SOS. Senseless crap like this never ends at CF.Couldn't you think up anything better than that to vent your hatred for what others may want? Exactly what is the point? So you like lifeless black voids in your wheelwells? Maybe too lazy to clean off brake dust? IDK. A typical "somebody" that likes to stir the pot and exalt themselves as the be all, know all armchair guru expert on everything that is right, or in most cases, wrong. Another big fat steaming nothing post The moniker says is all.

So sorry for your struggle. Keep up the "good fight." Maybe the aftermarket has some forged chromes that won't bust driving down the street on the way home from the dealer?

Those were the days. I remember those two cars were locked in the hypothetical forever street battle. Vette vs. Jag. The Jag wasn't that fast and the V12 was worse than the six. I never got it.
