Chrome wheels would not be my first choice.
First choice, always, is a forged wheel that is polished
If my car does not have them I buy aftermarket.

WTF. Like I said.... the monikar says it all. Nice red letters though. No, saying I find something lacking is an opinion without criticism for what others like. Chevrolet C7 Corvette wheels have been cracking and bending under normal driving and ordinary road conditions. I own two C7s, a ZR! & Z06, those wheel crack and bend like Ritz crackers routinely. My currently owned 427 C6 and two ZL1 Camaros have no such problems. Oh yeah, the ZL1 only comes with black wheels but I wish they were chrome. If you don't comprehend my posts I am sorry for you have such a "blindspot." Such playing with words. Can't wait for C8 deliveries to begin. Nothing but idle irrelevant comments with no real info in the C8 threads.

Now there you go. That would be my first choice too. IMO, just for me, the polished forged wheel with a powder coat clear is a great choice for appearance and durability.

As said, not my monkeys not my circus, but the C8 is going to take a while to get out there. Maybe you should consider taking some time off of CF, lower your blood pressure a little. No one is forcing you to click.

Damn, whish you had posted this earlier, before I placed my order!

'll be 76 yrs old when mine is delivered, most likely in 2nd qtr of 2020. So I could cancel it on your recommendation, but I'm not sure your Old Enough to be making decisions for anyone.

I'm paying cash out the door. Want hurt my living style. Retired when I was 58 yrs old. Never financed either of my 2 Homes, did financed my 1st new car, at 19 yrs of age. Never used a credit card to buy anything I could not pay for when my statement came in. Raised this way.

This is from a Southern Redneck, High School Grad, not from a Rich Family with benefits.

Now you on the other hand, if you your still making house payments car payments, have Credit card debt, Oh, Also don't forget, about saving for retirement, so you have enough money in hand, to take care of you or your wife in a 3 stage Healthcare Facility, for at least 5 yrs worth of care, with enough money left so either one of you can leave on the same terms.

Now for you, I would recommend, that you should not purchase a C8, until you have everything payed off, and money in the bank, savings for the worst case above!

I on the other hand, can afford to pay some one to help me get in and out of a C8, an "Gosh Darn" if I don't love the C8 for if nothing else than having a DCT, to help out my poor old Left Leg, and right arm...LOL

Don't take the above personally...LOL If my above shoe fits, I'm sure I'll hear about your defense to it...

No armchairing here! This is not a black vs chrome debate! There are more wheel option out there! The typical minority with their loud microphones are out and getting all bent out of shape. Chrome wheels were once appropriate but times change and typical people stuck in the past and can't get over it! All you have to look and find another high-line car offering chrome wheels....you won't find one! There is a reason for that and there is a reason GM gave up big profits and choose to not offer them anymore! This is something that if you have to explain more than once then no point in trying anymore just like trying to explain to the rapper with the gold bling teeth that it's trashy and tacky but he's thinking it's stylish and flashy!

I too had a Mercedes SL and agree that car was a total POS!! As far as chrome wheels go, ya during the time this SL (and other cars) were out, chrome wheels were proper but that time has long passed now.

I have not seen a C8 wheel that I like, the only wheel I would put on a C8 is the silver painted 5 spoke, I wished Corvette would do a machined or polished on that design for the C8. The years of seeing all the Camo cars I was saying to myself, awful wheels they are useing on the prototypes, hope production cars have some nice wheels. The C8 needs a nice bright wheel.

GM who? Wouldn't they have the same liability from the EPA on those 20- 22" chrome truck/ SUV wheels? GM currently offers plenty of chrome wheel options although they have become fewer. A GM supplier of copper/ nickel/ chrome so-called "triple chrome plated" wheel recently opened a factory in Bowling Green. GM hs also offered PVD chrome wheels that are actually anodized crap from China. The "chrome-like" powder coat is a close facsimile for appearance but not durability or depth of shine. The chrome plating process uses and produces toxic material but the plating industry is doing well in the U.S. in spite of the EPA. I would fact check the info you have simply by searching current GM- wide wheel options on the interweb.

Just one example.

Out of 34,822 2019 Corvettes built over the past 20 months, 7,632 were delivered with $1,995 chrome wheels. Do the math, and see how many dollars that adds up to, with most of it being profit to GM and the dealers.
Seems to me, that throwing away some 15 million dollars in sales of chrome wheels is kind of stupid.

^^^ It's called brand preservation. Better longterm reputation & stigma vs. immediate $$. All high-line brands do it, whether it's clothing, restaurants, hotels, etc. Look at Cadillacs image and why some Eurpoean car buyers still stay away because of the stigma (fake convertible tops, etc) it has tried to shed for years that still remains in some buyers eyes.

Black wheels look like a gaping hole in the body flow, or like a cheap car that has lost its hubcaps. Yes, I have black wheels, so I'm qualified to say that.

After two-plus years with the black wheels, and looking at the car from all angles and light conditions, I'm considering offering to trade them for some silver wheels. They wouldn't need to be chrome, just something which has a little more visual interest and color contrast than a wheel-well black hole.

I have a friend whose child works as one of the GM car designers, recently did a drawing of what my C2 might look like as a restomod. I told that person that I was going with polished wheels. That person did the concept drawing of my car with black wheels saying that polished and chrome was out...black was in.

I appreciate their comment, but for me, polished and chrome appeals to me.....I guess it’s just a sign of the times.

In the custom car and show car world and even in the streets of anytown usa, cruise nights, car shows etc, bright, polished, machined and chrome wheels hold the edge over any thing else and still gets the attention of maximum bling

I just bought my 2018 Stingray two weeks ago. It has the Gloss Black wheels They look great out in the sun from 5 feet away. But from 25 feet away, they disappear and start looking like gaping black holes in the cars sleek lines. All my friends tell me they are the best looking wheels I could have on the car.

I have been trying to get used to them, but I just can't. I don't care for chrome wheels too much either, but black is worse. At least the majority of people I know think black wheels are amazing, so at least they should be easy to sell.

I am going to buy some American Racing AR924s in Graphite. I looked at them today at a wheel and tire shop and they are an amazing gunmetal color. I think they will look fantastic on my Watkins Glen Grey C7.
