So rcn,...my 1LT has been at 1100 since August 1st..so what should I do?..I spoken to my salesman, I've spoken to the concierge,.the YL at GM said more 1LTs will start coming down the line with much greater frequency in the next few weeks..There's really not much I can do but wait to see if she's right. When I made my deposit I was told I was the 58th person to put money down for a C8 at this dealership. Now if they are playing games with people's position in line what can I do about that?
There are no constraints of any kind. Your dealer should be matching allocations with orders as represented (presumably in order of deposit). If GM is pushing 1LT’s back, that’s GM’s decision, but that should have no bearing on your dealer’s assignment of allocations to EC 2000. If your dealer refuses to be transparent regarding how they are assigning allocations and where you stand, that’s a major ethical red flag.
We keep hearing about 15 or 20% reductions in 2020 allocations and clearly, it seems the original estimates of as recently as early January are likely not going to be met. If the Coronavirus issue gets worse, it may result in further reductions due to parts availability. But, I don’t think GM looks at dealers order list and reduces allocation based on 1LT’s being among potential orders.
. Just curious, when you call and ask them for an update, what do they tell you? Do you check in regularly or have you gone back to see them (assuming you live close to them)?
They claim they don't track their list like Mac or Kerbeck and therefore can't say where I stand. Also, they don't know if I will get a 2020 or not. They have no idea when. Obviously I don't talk to them often because they have nothing to say even though they have had my money for 7 months. They don't seem to care if they sell me a car or not. I'm just a number.

Definitely sounds like they don't care. I can't believe they don't give you a definite number where you are on their list especially if they have that kind of volume of Corvette allocations. Something doesn't sound right.

They are either playing with their list or they don't want customers to know that they won't get a 2020 and therefore are looking at a significant price increase on a 2021 whenever that might be available, likely not until next winter. If I had gone with Mac or Kerbeck, I would have had a car by July at the latest and I would be a happy camper. Now this is just a frustrating mess.

Have you spoken to the manager at your dealership? Sounds like something is really fishy

They don’t track their list?
Wow......just wow.
If that’s case how can they ensure the latest deposit doesn't get the first car? Definitely sounds like major .
A simple paper filing system would allow them to ensure the correct order and would also explain why they can't really provide an update until your order is going to go into that month's allocations. Antiquated, yes. But I've seen worse.

This is just sad. As far as what number you are at the dealership it is literally as easy as taking a manila envelope (we called them deal bags), writing your name and deposit position on it and putting it in a file cabinet. I.E. if you were the 17th deposit write a #17 on the bag and put it in the drawer.
As far as the order position at GM, that's online everyday and at their fingertips with the order number that has been generated in the system.
They are simply attempting to pump sunshine up your ***.
Hoping to know next month if I will be getting a 2020 from my local dealer and if not considering ordering a 2021 from a large forum dealer with more transparency and save a $499 doc fee.

Interesting you mention envelopes. When I gave my deposit back in SEP 2019, I was handed an envelope with “#30” written on it. Inside the envelope was a printout of my order configuration. Not exactly sure of the number allocations awarded to my dealer however I believe it to be around 100. My dealer claims the order will be entered into WorkBench on or around March 12, 2020. Hopefully, he’s right and we can get the show on the road!

I am in same boat... Since my company is in Gaithersburg MD -- should have done that from the beginning.

Well if the stock market keeps tanking I can guarantee you there will be people who will back out of their car once it shows up. If your open to options and colors you may be able to find one at MSRP sooner than later if you are okay traveling.
If you paid your deposit with a credit card and didn’t sign anything you should be able to dispute it with zero issue and get 100% of your deposit back. Your dealer is playing games with you.
definitely unfortunate. I'm going through my local dealer who I've used for many years. I'm number 1 out of 5 and was worried they were going to play games as some other prior bigger customers put an order down but my order was picked up first so they were true to their word. thankfully. They are definitely not up to speed and seems I provide them with tons more info I learn from the forums than they provide me. I do wish they were more on top of things but realize they are not a big corvette seller (really don't see many around where I live) so it's ok. Definitely would be talking to the manager/GM as they have to have a list in order to protect the integrity of the order process and be ethical with their customers.

That's pretty much the way things are going with my sales guy..Since I put down my deposit back in late July..I've learned he's no Corvette specialist. Sometimes when we talk I seem to know more about what's going on with the car than he does..He did text me today to say the dealership got 4 more allocation for February. And he said I would probably be in the 1st.March allocation. OK, I said I hope so.It all remains to be seen. Still,I have my fingers crossed!!...

Many “Corvette Specialists” at smaller dealers have that title because they got 20 minutes of OJT on model basics and computer entry specifics. Most forum regulars here could run circles around them in Corvette knowledge. Heck, I’ve never owned a Corvette and by no means consider myself an expert, but even I know more than my “specialist”.
As I said before, that ain’t right. Some of the people (and dealers) selling this car have no idea what they are doing and the Corvette brand suffers because of it.
So there’s no documentation stating your deposit is non-refundable? In that case, how can your dealer claim it is? Hopefully, it will be moot next month, but if it becomes an issue (you want to bail like so many elsewhere have done prior to build), their assertion of that means nothing.
Well, I was informed today that it will be another 6-8 weeks before my order is matched with allocation. I have moved up 1 place in line, in a month. I told them to cancel my order and now comes the battle to get the deposit back. I have sent a text message to my original dealer and also an email to the manager requesting my refund.....I can almost guarantee they are going to attempt to screw me out of $5000.
Every generation, history repeats itself. Post after post of delayed deliveries, clueless dealers and poor communication. THIS is the primary reason why the top dealers are where they are in Corvette sales and customer satisfaction. If you don’t really care when you get your vette, then deal with the low allocation dealer, otherwise...go with a top forum dealer.

Dealer is the top sales in Dallas....plus I bought a Vette in 2012 from them. Thought they were reliable.
