This is why I spent days installing UHD front and rear, and HD on each side dashcams that stay on for 6 hrs after the car turns off. It was quite an install for me to make them un-noticable, but I would have the pics and the plate # if he got away.
Must be disappointing to wait 16 months for a car and then having is squished. I was waiting for a space in my C4. A car in front of me had stopped to let someone exit a parking space so I was stuck. I notice beside me reverse lights went on. OK I am sure they see a bright red car. Then I see the wheels begin to rotate so I start hitting the horn. My top was off so I am also yelling and a pedestrian is also yelling and pointing. Crunch. Drivers door and quarter panel and bumper and trunk/hatchback and glass.
These trucks not seeing cars on the passenger side is not just a parking lot problem. I've had them change lanes AT me when driving my Miata, and my Sprite. They're mirrors seem to be set too high. I always drive defensively so I haven't been hit but I did have a guy back right into me, my horn blaring. He was driving a Lincoln automobile, not even an SUV and couldn't see me in his mirror.
In parking lots you can pick your space but while moving ya gotta be ever vigilant.
Those are the most oversized spots I've seen. I'd say both are at fault. C8 guy should have looked and make sure he centered his car. and the truck guy could have found another spot elsewhere.
No. A parked car(the C8)is not at fault. That's the most idiotic thing I've read on here in a while.

The C8 may have been centered before it was ran over. And sometimes you have to park off center to keep some space from the next car over that parked off center.

Take another look at photo #2 There are 2 solid lines and the C8 is parked well to the inside of both. We have no idea if there was a car on his left who was perhaps over the line and then left but in any case when I back in, I lineup up the drivers side with parking lines (since you can barely see the right side lines when backing) so that's exactly how I would have parked. To check I open the driver door and look down.
PS Today I saw a very similar truck with two young ladies in it trying to back into a spot. I moved my bike, One lady got out and began directing while standing directly behind the truck. Of course the driver could not see and then as the truck got very close to a car behind the lady directing puts her hands on the tailgate to stop the truck. I had my finger on 9-1-1 but ...
That new truck looks to have back-up sensors in the bumper.....no warning?? No camera? Not only is the truck jacked up, so is it's operator who obviously didn't even attempt to use the mirrors. Just another dick with ears.
The more I look at the pictures the more I think this *** was parked next to the Corvette and just cut it too short urning out. Either way they need more schooling on how to drive.

That model was made in 2008-2009. It's a F250 and could have a rear vision camera on it, but no back up sensors. It's not lifted much if at all over factory specs.
The driver of that truck had no business being in that parking space. That truck has too wide of a turning radius to negotiate the turns necessary to park there. I own a 2020 2500HD and don't even try to park in spots like those. I park at the end of the lot so I have enough room to turn my truck if someone parks near me.
Don't think it was done on purpose...just a bad driver with poor judgement backing into the parking space. The C8 was not taking two spaces, it was just not centered in the wide parking space.

All above likely with the C8 pushed over a bit when run over. Of note definitely truck was backing in, no damage behind truck front wheel. And that passenger side mirror is set way too high to see that C8.

I see it the other way. Truck was pulling out of the space. If he was backing into the space the first points of contact would have been the tail pipes and tires. There was no damage to the tail pipes. Either way I feel bad for the C8 owner.

Definitely pulling out, that is why there is no damage behind the front wheel. They turned the wheel to sharp pulling out.
Do we think there would be no damage to the front of the car if they backed over it? Also, the running board would have been sitting ON the car if it was backed over the front.

Yep, as I mentioned in post #17 one reason I don't take the Interstate to town. BUT also agree about being very careful where you park. In our relatively small town usually have to problem finding a sport far from others. However where I can't I am careful not to park in a spot where a person behind can hit the car when they back-up to leave! Some rely on their camera and it's often not giving a proper distance of what is behind. Close Not Good Enough!
