I think I know what you mean. There is a road I like to drive with a few twisties. My C7 felt like an amusement ride when I took those curves. A rawer feeling and My C6 was even more so. The first time I took those curves in the C8, I was thinking it's missing something. It was as if the car was over capable and it was nothing to take those same curves compared to previous generations. I was driving the C8 first in Z mode. The next time, I took the same road... I dropped it down to My Mode making the settings the same as tour except for the exhaust which I set at the loudest setting.
That made a world of difference. In the equivalent of tour mode, I got almost the same feeling as the C7 but a bit smoother.

I think the difference is the car is much more polished and planted than previous generations and it's not even coming close to its capabilities. After all, they wouldn't have changed to mid-engine if they wanted to duplicate the same ride as previous generations.

Went C7 ZO6 ZO7 to the C8 HTC after doing 6 laps at Speed Vegas in a C8. I ran a C7 ZO6 there previously. Like many I was concerned about not having 3 pedals. The DCT is amazing and I don't miss shifting at all in the C8

I do have a 67 BBC Coupe with a TKX 5 Speed to satisfy the urge to row gears.

Comments about not being a fast car are not true. What I see is it is Fast but you don't really know it unless you look at the speedo. Probably why some feel the speed more with a louder after market exhaust.

The C8 is faster than a Camaro ZL1 both 0-60 and 1/4 mile.

The C8 with the top on or up is not an exciting ride, it’s too good at everything and too isolating. Without drama or fear, there can be no excitement. I tell everyone I prefer my old 1970 454 C3 over the C8 for short rides. This is something I realized after renting a Huracan in Vegas, great everyday car, but the sound was awesome, so it was fun, without the fun it would be boring. Unless you are driving at crazy speeds, C8’s are just too good.

if you want fun, buy an old car with a big block and no electronic nannies. They are scary, they want to hurt you, they make going to the fruit stand fun.

I have other sports cars (some mid-engine) all rawer than the C8 but in some (like the 4C) they were not made for anything but pure driving, and most people would not last a week driving them. The problem with sports cars of today is that they have to be all things to all drivers.

I have to admit...........the car isnt real fast, the gearing is DEFINATELY wrong, my C5 would eat this things lunch (supercharged) and the manual and turning off the nannys really made for some wild adventures.

BUT.........I havent been to Ron Fellows yet and this car is probably going to show me what this mid engine design is all about. Fast on the track not just a straight line and wild hairy burnouts............many of you have tracked these cars........thats going to change my mind isnt it?

great discussion by the way, one that is on alot of peoples mind

Sound like you need to sell yours and find a car you can enjoy! I have so much fun in my 2023 HTC! I daily drive it, and love driving it more than my 2017 Z06 vert which couldn't get the power to the ground! Love how it corners much better without that big chunk of metal in front!

Maybe I need to drive it more.

The other issue is I have two little kids which I was well aware of the lack of practicality. I take the 10 year old with me and my wife on rides where my daugther doesn't go and we can get a sitter for the 2 year old. but I knew this going in....

The one thing that has kept me from already rage trading it on a red eye or ZL1 is the fact that at the end of the day it’s still americas sports car. And at 38 im
pretty lucky to have one. I had my
First vette at 29 and came back now.

maybe addition of an older more raw car is the solution rather than addition by substitution.

hmmm
You have higher limits with this car due to better traction from better weight distribution.

I supercharged my Camaro SS and the car became stupid on the streets. I'd pin the throttle at 60mph and the rear end would try and run to the closest ditch.

The c8 will stick. It's breakaway is also extremely progressive imo. It doesn't snap on you.

Honestly no good handling car should be loose on the streets where you are only at 7/10 when driving aggressively. It may be fun if they are but good luck with them at 10/10 then.

If you want to make the c8 "fun" at 7/10 just throw some crap 225/265 tires on it and it'll be a whole new experience for you

It's not boring, it's 'refined' or 'sophisticated'

It's an awesome touring car but ... that soul... I miss that. Gotta find it or it's on the way out.

The C8 gets better the more you drive it. I drive mine every chance I get, it's not my "daily" as I have Grand Cherokee for when the weather is bad or going to the grocery store, but I take the C8 every chance I get when the weather is nice.

Anyone else get this feeling? I just cant shake the feeling that its missing something.
I really get where you are coming from. I get bored easily too. In the last five years I've owned a GT500, A Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye, A Scat Pack, I went to trucks with a Raptor and now I own a TRX. I do love the TRX. I even tried a Porsche Macan GTS, Loved it but got bored. I traded my Hellcat Redeye Charger for the used 22 2LT Z51 Coupe I have and have no regrets. The C8 is my third Corvette, I had a C4 and a C5 and just wasn't that thrilled with them so I stayed out of the corvette world until I started reading about the C8. I've driven other generations of corvettes and was ok with them but after testing a C8 I fell in love it. I've driven mine through the tail of the dragon, did the 1900 miles on the Hot Rod Power Tour and loved every minute of the ride.

In each of these cars I felt the same, I felt like something was missing. But I can also say that family life played a factor. When I couldn't drive some of my cars due to family members not fitting or just not practical for the occasion I would start looking at something else and on went the cycle.

Now I want a convertible so I'm in line at MacMulkin patiently waiting to order the C8 I specifically want (nothing wrong with a used one just want one my way). I think I will keep the one I'm ordering, which is odd for me to say as I haven't kept much of what I buy. I do still have my 72 Chevelle so maybe I don't need ADD medicine yet.

That is where I am plus finding hte car a bit too vanilla. The more I look though, I don't know where else I'm going to get this kind of performance for this money. I dont know, ZL1 ragtop looks appealing. How do you feel the car compares to the hellcat? thats on my short list as well

not exactly sure how this car isnt fast when it literally beats every car the thread starter mentioned (and pretty much every car its meant to compete against) in 0-60 and the quarter mile
