all this talk about not having a soul...go drive a tesla, thats a soulless 1 trick pony that gives you whiplash and makes you nacreous...i test drove a plaid a few weeks back and just didn't like it, yes its a monster in a straight line but thats it...the sound of the v8 on the c8 is good (can be upgraded for sure) and is what gives the car its soul.
As for the "fast" thing, not sure on that one but its just how people feel...but the car is still fast, and a corvette, any one saying a 0-60 in 3 second and a quarter in 11 isnt "fast" is kidding themselves, its got higher performance numbers than all the mustangs, chargers, camaros, etc. out there....really the only car that ive seen match it in the same class is the new M4 if you have compeition and AWD, and even then its top end as the vette takes it 0-60 where the vast majority of people are going to be driving.
not exactly sure how this car isnt fast when it literally beats every car the thread starter mentioned (and pretty much every car its meant to compete against) in 0-60 and the quarter mile
I think most of us when we say it isn’t fast mean on the highway. It’s a quick car 0-60. However it’s underwhelming at highway speeds when you romp on it. One can only expect so much from a 500hp car that isn’t exactly light.

any idea what the c7 z06 vs c8 z51 60-100 looks like time wise? Was searching and didnt see it but id love to see that comparison
That is where I am plus finding hte car a bit too vanilla. The more I look though, I don't know where else I'm going to get this kind of performance for this money. I dont know, ZL1 ragtop looks appealing. How do you feel the car compares to the hellcat? thats on my short list as well
Personally, with a family in mind, you will love the Hellcat. It is a beast, an unrefined beast. No manners, just raw power to the wheels, that supercharger whine, and if you really want to go nuts get the earlier hellcat challenger when they offered the 6 speed manual.
I don't like to compare the C8 to the Hellcat because it really is apples and oranges. The C8 has manners, it is refined in how it handles, how it corners, how it behaves in straight line excelleration. The Hellcat is just raw horsepower, a beast in every sense of the word. Not the best handling, or cornering, and if you lay on the pedal it will break loose on you in a heartbeat, even with traction control on. And while many will argue about how lite and fast the C8 is in straight line pull, The hellcat screams like a grizzly bear and rockets down the straight like monster after a meal. You are pushing near 800 horsepower and while yes, the Dodge is heavier on paper, you'd never know it driving it. Did I mention the supercharger whine?
I am in Corvette number 8. Many were high HP modified cars. I have been to Spring Mountain 6 times. There is no doubt to me that the 8th Gen Corvette is the best of them all.
I understand what you mean. I came from other Vettes with a C7 GS 7MT as my last one. As I have gotten older, I think I prefer the refinement of the C8 as opposed to the pit bull on a bungie cord lunacy of the C7. It reminds me of this old Top Gear video comparing the Audi S4 to the BMW M3 with the Audi representative of the C8. At about the 3 minute mark sums it up:
Sorry you have to leave it in the garage so much! A fun car for a family is a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I have a 2" lift on mine and 35" tires. I also have the Sky One-Touch roof since I like convertibles!
If you do noy like the Game Changer, sell it. No need for a long discussion or thread. That simple.
If you miss some noise, that's simple too - like on many car reality shows.
Still unhappy, .... get a 1960 something muscle car.
Personally, I've never had a "C" anything before, but it does justice to be my 280SL 4-speed follow-on!
Although my SL was a perfect DD even without noise, just a pleasure to drive 24/7!
C8 not as much - Miss the manual and the trunk space.

sold my 2015 1LE for a JLUsahara. Never make that mistake again. I would definitely trade my truck for another one though! I’d keep the hard top though. I love taking it all off though the sky one touch is intriguing
The c8 chassis was developed to easily handle about 800 hp . Such a competent chassis with 500 hp delivers the goods . It just does so with such composure it’s as mentioned not on the raw edge like previous generations.
the 50 50 weight distribution front engine rear transaxle cars were fun the throw around at the limit. The rear mid engine c8 is quick and unflappable on the street. The front engine Rear differential corvettes were a lot of fun to throw around…the c8 jist goes.
the composure and competence are at extremely high levels.
levels designed to easily maintain 800 hp or more and not blink.
I hear this phrase used quite often from others when referring to a Miata!
Don't knock on the Miatas!! From a dollar per fun factor, they're probably about the best bang for your buck. If I had room in the garage, I would love to have a weekend Miata to sling around with the top down. It's no muscle car or a C8 by any means, but man are they just a blast to drive.

LOL!!! I'm laughing because I actually owned one myself at one time! A 2018 MX5-RF....Yeah, it was fun in the twisties, but gutless as all hell...
The saying on the Miata forum was "I'd rather have a slow car feel fast than a fast car feel slow...ha!

Custom exhaust system added a LOT to my enjoyment. It's just psychological of course, but the sound track does a lot for all that time when you're nowhere near the limits for the drive to feel exciting.
I have other sports cars (some mid-engine) all rawer than the C8 but in some (like the 4C) they were not made for anything but pure driving, and most people would not last a week driving them. The problem with sports
cars of today is that they have to be all things to all drivers.
There's the saying about it being more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. (Tadda beat me to this)
I could easily last more than a week driving the 4C, but it's a great example of how it could be tiring driving a car like that 24/7. Every drive is an adventure and I'd prefer a little boredom when it comes to parking or driving in stop and go traffic. It's great fun to drive, but can be both tiring at slow crawls and frightening at high speed.
My C7 was stressful to drive (with the A8) slowly in traffic because it always felt like I was lugging the engine at low RPMs. It was also easier to kick out the back end on wet pavement than the C8, which could be more fun to some. At normal to moderately high speeds it was more exciting to drive than the C8 because I always felt more on the edge in that car. I don't know that it was necessarily a good thing though.
The C8 is an all around good car that has the comfort and smoothness of a Cadillac during casual in-traffic drives but you can dial in the engine, brakes, and suspension (with mag ride), mash the accelerator, and transform it in to being an exciting car to drive. The problem is you need to tame some extremely sharp twisties, or hit triple digit speeds in order to pump up your adrenaline.
45 mph in the 4C can feel like you're flying. To get the same feeling in the C8 you need to hit 85+.
