I definitely hear you. My ZL1 is an M6. In my opinion, the Tremec 6060 is the best manual transmission out there. The gearing is just about perfect in all six gears.

I've said it so many times, the DCT in the C8 is my biggest disappointment with the car. First and second gear shift way too early. If you have a Z51 C8 there are three shifts from 0-60. Non-Z51 do two shifts. I can run my M6 ZL1 all the way to 62 mph in first gear. Watch the ZL1 1LE video around the Nurburgring. Bill Wise spends 75% of the lap in 3rd or 4th gear. Right in the engine's peak powerband. In contrast, the C8 is in 6th gear by 38 mph if you let the computer do the shifting unless you're in track mode.

I've never had the transmission out of track mode (using z mode) since I've owned the car. Definitely put it there as it's a very different experience than CAFE fuel economy mode that seeks out 1400rpm.

I completely agree this car is boring. Very smooth acceleration, Holds a turn line like a race car. Hardly any under steer. Where is the fun?? Try a Miata.

here in atlanta you will get your *** kicked by ZL1-'s, Challengers, Alfa Romeo's, some Subuaru's and Shelby Mustangs on a nearly daily basis if you indulge (they love to race around here, wont leave the C8 alone)

I understand what the OP is saying but that raw muscle car feeling isn't for everyone. I had muscle cars that felt raw and handled awful and jarred your teeth on every bump that were slow even though you felt like you were flying. That was fun back in the sixties and early seventies. They were very similar to the Harleys back then. Lots of noise and vibration along with poor performance.
I never find my C8 to be boring mostly because I daily drive fast country roads with many curves at a fairly aggressive rate. The way the car handles and responds is anything but boring.

Yep it's how and where you drive!

Probably more than most I was concerned when I placed my hold-a-spot order for my 6th Vette in July 2019. The prior was a standard shift C7 Grand Sport. Heck my 1st DD with hp robbing AC was my 1st Vette, a 1988. One key reason for buying as moved to SC from CT with a black, turbo compact! EVERY DD I had for 62 years was a standard shift.

But thought. Heck I moved from a slip stick in college to a Ti-59 programable calculator when I managed an R&D Lab to PC's. Could not operate my part time Internet business without two Pcs, iPad and iPhone. Have >100 pages on a website for the business etc that I produced and manage myself. I can learn to pull paddles.

The C8 is far from boring the way I drive! Higher lateral peak "g" that I could achieve with my Prior standard shift C7 Grand Sport.

I do have a ProStreet Rod IF I want scarry raw power! BUT it's not as fast 0 to 60 as the C8! Built it and the 8.2 Liter BB 23 years ago when I retired!

BUT think this video should be watched by all those who think their C8 is too civilized. Use Z-Mode Power set to Track and it's a different more aggressive car. And this fellow does NOT drive as aggressively as I do as he is in more city environment! In fact I stopped driving in Manual Mode (after the 1st month where that was all I used) when I hit the rev limiter a few times making a turn from a stop sigh to merge into ~70 mph traffic. Yep in Z-Mode accelerates faster and shifts all by itself just before redline!

I'm not trading it. After ripping around in it yesterday I need to just add something more analog for those times I want to just feel more rattles, vibration, etc. I have a 69 Chevelle I built with/for my dad so I have that to drive but its just a numbers matching 350 4 speed car. Fun but by no means fast. Maybe another C5 or a C4 is in the cards. or a C6 GS...*which was my dream before i had the job to feed my car addiction which got me to the C8 by way of everything else first. ha!

I do want to explore exhaust. I do NEED to maintain NPP functionality, AFM simulators are fine but NPP functionality is essential for early mornings in my neighborhood when my kid (and neighbors) are still asleep when I head to work. Seems AWE doesnt offer that and Corsa is 4 grand. anyone recommend anything in the middle?

I think the C8 is a great car and definitely earns a spot in the garage with my 2 ZR1s - a C6 & C7. Definitely a step up in tech, the instrument cluster is better, the radio more responsive to commands. Its more of a cruiser but I knew that going in, I enjoy it a lot and its quick enough for what I use it for. I don't consider it a boring car. I will probably only let it go when the new ZR1 eventually arrives.

I'm actually shocked how similar it is to the c8 in non gt form as far as it's touring nature.

It road trips equally as well ..

I think the C8 does many things well. However after several times driving my friends C8 I knew there was no way I could get rid of my 2019 M7 Z06 Convertible. So I removed my name from the list i was on and just recently removed my name from the C8Z list as well. Bottom line for me the C8 is as many stated a fine handling, not bad looking boring car.

I am a one car guy and I really like the C8. Mine has a Paragon exhaust on it so it can be rowdy when you have fun with it. The C8 does everything well, tours, eats up twisty roads and works great on the track. Lots of real enthusiasts on this forum so they own multiple cars to do different things and that is great but most of us are one car people so the C8 to me is the best car in its price range. You have to spend a lot more money to beat it or equal it. I like raw uncivilized vehicle too so I appease the dark side with these guys. I can assure you that they are not boring.

Last track bike I rode before I retired. 185 RWHP and 385lbs

Aprillia V4 Tuono.

MV Agusta Brutale 910R. 120 RWHP and 420lbs with no electronic aides.

Put an exhaust on it. This car is way too quiet.

Its pretty simple; the C8 has high capabilities and the limits are equally high. When a car performs and handles as effortless as it does, it will seem boring at speeds that other cars are exciting at. Push the C8 to the limit and the boring goes away.
If your highway speed doesn't exceed 70mph you will be bored in this car. Those owners are better off with a 60's big block with side pipes, a 4-gear and a 411 rear end. 70mph feels like 150

If there was a way to make my C8 sound like a ZO6 …..that would do it😜.
