on the 1.7? 0.5 to 1.0 sec faster than a c7 z51. So 1:21.xx or 1:22.xx with a very good driver.

Mother Nature isn’t wanting to like us to much right now with light to heavy rain through Monday but we are getting some measurements on the car and prepping it for it’s baseline track runs here at our home track of MSR.

Up on the lift to get a good look at the bottom side of the car

On the scales...

2LT Z51 car with a FULL tank of fuel and the competition seat package, front nose lift, PDR but not a lot more than that.

The REQUIRED trans fill for track use before we turn a wheel on the dyno or track.

Now if we can just get a dry track.

That’s not as bad as I was expecting for a full tank of gas, thanks for sharing and hoping dries soon as looking forward to the track results!

Rain continues.......

So let’s take it apart!

Might as well learn something right?

That massive rear fascia? Almost 40lbs

The NPP cat back? Not exactly light weight.

77.4lbs with the actuators in place.

As you have probably seen they have went to a external caliper for the parking brake, which is electronic like the drum in hat version of the C7.

Each one of these is over 6lbs hanging off the spindles on the back of the car.

It was while we were playing with the brakes that we also felt this was a good time to flush the OE stuff with a better, high temp fluid before we did our baseline runs just to eliminate a chance of brake fade due to fluid issues. We also ran into something we didn’t expect.

If you are doing the brakes at home with a buddy and are doing it how you always have, more than likely you are going to run it dry and have a very soft pedal. GM suggests using a pressure bleeder system to keep it from doing this. If you do not have the adapter and kit to do this at home, then take the bleed process VERY SLOWLY to make sure that no air can enter the system.

So it can be done at home....again just have to go real slow with it and keep mindful of the pedal as you go.

Found the ECU while we were poking our heads around the car too....

Nice shot of the engine and transaxle while we had everything apart.

Work continues as more storms are forecast for tomorrow. Possibly Friday afternoon we might see some dry time on a cold, green track. Not the best for times but possibly some feedback from the car and driver.

Damn, what a great color combination and look at the bones of the car. Can't wait to see the track results, the good and the not so good and the fixes to make the car track worthy.

Let’s shop for some new shoes....

Daniel Finke at Finspeed has been a great friend of ours for some time now and he was super excited to come up and do some fitment and scans!

In addition to the handheld scanner a mockup is a critical tool to see how the actual wheel hoop will fit and interact with the suspension parts on the car. This one not only gives you a cross section of the wheel itself but mocks up a tire to see where it might come into contact with the body.

Just one of the mock up tools used, this one a 18x8.5 with a BFG Rival mockup.

It truly is amazing what you can do today with scanners and a laptop. Full wheel house scan along with suspension and brake parts all uploading real time.

Stay Tuned!!

Great write up, any extra pics or procedure on taking off the bumper? Exhaust is my first mod planned.
Thanks!

Had a great outing at the track yesterday with the C8.

TLDR; Brake by wire is non issue, stock tires are 300tw run flats, video says 3675 no driver, it was meant to say 3675 WITH DRIVER. car has LOTS of front grip, were exploring more grip over all. So far, extremely excited for the platform and what we can extract out of it.

For comparison, a stock C6Z runs similar times as does a Viper TA, and Camaro ZL1LE runs 1:20.xx. Lets not forget that this is a BASE model car on 300TW runflats.

Thanks to Finspeed for the upcoming wheels, George Matick Chevrolet and Alan Johnson for getting us taken care of, the whole team at GSpeedfor taking the car apart 23172612356 times, Adam and Tim at Doghouse Performance for getting us on the alignment rack a few times and getting us back on track quickly and of course Paul Costas for the wheeling and Austin Wallace for the snaps and video help!

More to come, including wheels, brakes, tires, and race seats in the next two weeks!

Keep in mind, a c7z51 has ran mid 1:22s bone stock too at cresson. I ran low 1:23s with 255/295 r888rs in a z51 2-3 years ago and I was a garbage driver back then (still am). The PS4S is no slouch and I bet the Corvette specific model is faster than the normal model as usual.

Tyre Reviews on youtube tested the PS4S vs Cup 2 and it was only 0.5 sec slower on a 1:15 lap.

Just saying, this isn't out of this world and exactly the results I predicted. You also dropped like 175 lbs off the car already.

Exciting stuff nonetheless!!!!

I’ve been high 1:23s in my A-stock(front bar and Koni shocks) C6GS on PS2 runflats, buddy has been high 1:20s in his A-stock (front bar and DRM Bilsteins) C6Z06 on 285/305 RE71Rs and another buddy went high 1:21s in stock C7GS on MPSS runflats.

Appreciate Gspeed sharing the results and feedback on understeer as well as temps, looking forward to seeing it go faster with wider wheels/tires next!

All 3 of those are wide tire cars though. 40 mm extra up front is a healthy amount. It net me over a second improvement immediately.

Not really 175lbs off the car itself.

To break it down: The car was 3625lbs full fuel, as Chevy built it, no driver. We did drop approx 100lbs with the exhaust change, and Paul is approx 200lbs so it was 3725lb race weight as it went out. Our best lap was done roughly 1/2 tank or slightly less than that. The car was approx 3675lbs coming off track WITH driver given the exhaust mod and fuel use on track.

If we get another clear day and a chance get Paul behind the wheel again, we will run it again with the OE exhaust. Not really going for a record lap, just getting data for testing and new part development.

Either way the car was solid all day for us without an issue which is awesome news for those getting their cars. Can’t wait to see how much quicker we can make it as we continue to sort and develop the car.
