Default Wheel hop?

I have a 2020 Z-51 3LT C8 with 1000 miles. I have not run the car particularly hard (no 0-60 “launches”). However, after the 500 mile break-in, I have experienced some wheel spin and wheel hop when flooring it below 15 mph. The wheel hop is most concerning as it feels terrible. The two times it happened, I was in Sport mode. FYI, this is my first Corvette (previous cars were Jaguar F-Type coupe, Porsche Cayman S, a second generation MR2 Spyder, etc. Thoughts?

Surface Type, Ambient Temp and how long had you been driving (cold tires or had they come up to temp)? OE tires aren't great in that respect in general but conditions definitely play a role. If it hops back out of it, we snapped an axle on the drag strip back in March and others have done it on the street.

Mine spins every time I lean on it hard. Not much hop that I can tell. Rear end walks out a bit, catches, and takes off. Factory Z Mode Setting.
Try the same in different drive modes. If its winter cold out and then the results will be poor regardless.

Thanks, guys. I think the cause was cold temps (40 degrees) and cold tires. Still, I would think that traction control might help avoid this outcome. This thing has so much torque that it wants to spin at low speeds. How does launch control avoid wheel hop and spin?

Look up Ackerman effect. Lots of my new Corvette owners are not used to it. It's worse when it gets colder.

Does the car sit a lot? Flat spots take longer to smooth out in colder weather as the rubber takes longer to heat up.

Thanks everyone. The car is stored in a heated garage. Only 3 weeks old. Tires were too cold, and pressure was too high on left rear. Also freezing temps on pavement the previous night. Still, I was surprised that traction control allowed some modest wheel spin and pretty severe wheel hop.

Although this one is more on when the vehicle is sharply turning though isn't it?

When accelerating hard without using Launch control, the rear wheels hop up and down. Have not tried Launch Control but will next time. Does this stop the wheel hop? My 1967 Camaro would wheel hop on acceleration and I put on a set of traction bars. Fixed the problem and didn't effect how the handling felt. So here I am in 2021 with all kinds of electronics to get the power from the wheels to the ground and it acts just like my 67. WTH is going on?

What kind of surface are you on? Are the tires cold and hard? What suspension mode are you in? Low profile run flats don’t like bouncing around as there isn’t much sidewall, any vibration from them while cruising indicating they’re possibly out of balance?

Tires are the Z51 Michelins and the day was low 60F and sunny. Rear tire pressure was 2 lbs different left to right, I had been driving for 30 minutes before I stopped at a light moved to Sport mode on the console dial and slipped my foot off of the brake and floored the gas,. The road was worn but not pot hole riddled, Rear tires hopped 3 or 4 times before I let off and then hit it again, it then spun the tires for a few feet and then grabbed and rocketed away. The traction control OFF light was NOT on, nor the stability OFF light. I expected the traction control to do it thing, but not on this pass. Is this the norm?

Still hops in Launch Control = 75 Deg and warn tires (Nevada Desert) with Z51.

It scares me and I will not try it again until I get on the track with drag Radials

and a prepped Starting line.

I have been racing close to 60 years AND =

It really feels like it WILL break something!!!

I am an expert on breaking things
