blkgenius and mortelec are correct! on 2022 and earlier C8s nothing will work other than MDI2 and GSD2 software. I tried Launch X431 v49.82 and it could not communicate with the TCM module, message was that the module rejected the command input. The messaging is nicer but it is a communication error. I tried both the flush and leak test. wadejesu, I suspect Foxwell NT 510 Elite will not work either.
I will be looking into purchasing the MDI2 hardware tool and at 64 bucks for 3 days it is still more cost effective than a visit to the dealer. In essence GM is allowing DIYers to work on their cars.
Still looking for clarification if the VIN option needs to be purchased or not if you are using MDI2 and GSD2 subscription.
Just make sure your laptop specs are compatible, Windows has to be the pro version and Java needs to be downgraded which can be tricky.

The flush procedure is not a requirement. Don't overthink it.

It’s quite literally the first step in the service procedure. Is there a way for them to prove it wasn’t done, likely not. But I don’t know if I’d say it’s not a requirement.

Any vehicle in question using an MDI2 must be logged into and connected to Tech Line Connect in order to run the hydraulic flush procedure, so there is an electronic fingerprint associated with this.
Just so I'm understanding this correctly but if you have a 23 and up vette the x431 series can do the full and partial flushes for the maintenance intervals because it's embedded on the tcm then?

Search around this site, there is a video from GM saying that for DIY, this is not necessary. GM does it because they can.
I have $5k in scan tools and MDI2 is the only one that will do 20-22. Yes I've tried with launch, Zurich, autel and creader.
Do you know which protocol is being used to connect to the vehicle?
I ask because I have a VXNano I used to connect to an older (2007) gm vehicles, but I'm assuming that we require different protocols with the Global B system in these vehicles. If so I guess I get a clone MDI 2 (the red ones, not the blue ones) and go from there.

Thanks!
The post above says the GM tool writes the procedure to the ECU/TCM in the 2022 and earlier MYs. Once the HSF is performed by the dealer does the procedure stay in the ECU/TCM or is it lost?

Unfortunately it's lost. The information that's written is done so in memory, and not a hard code change on the ECU. I bought my 2021 used in 2024, and as part of the deal I had the dealership change both the fluid and filter and then do the additional 2 liters for the track fill since the car sees a fair amount of time on a track.
I've tried multiple of the lesser expensive hand helds and none of them even show the TCM (Transmission Control Module) as present.
I'd try my VX Nano, but I have pay for the 3 day subscription just to try it out so I'm not doing that just yet. I might pick up one of the MDI2 clones from Amazon (since it's returnable there) this winter when I get under the car to change oil, DCT fluid / filter, and some other items to prep for next race season. Might not be until end of January when I have the time to do all of that work and give this a whirl.
Yes Wadejsu, for 23 and up the third party scanners should work. The module architecture is different than in the 22 and earlier model years. I'm looking around for a second hand Bosch mdi2 and if i can't find one I'll bite the bullet. In the long run the subscription and the tool will run less than a dealer visit.
