Have you ever changed the DCT filter yourself?

I sure would not think trying change the dct filter or a fluid change, through a 6.5"x 10" opening would be a good idea. Do you?

I do.... will be doing this mod before the season starts in New England. I track my car so will be doing a lot more fluid and filter changes. There seems to be ample room to access the filter without issue. I go through the wheel well to add the extra 2 liters. It's a good mod for those that DIY maintenance.

I do the same when changing fluid run the hose through the wheel, reach up and thread the hose adapter into fill hole and hook up the pump. 10 minutes later fluid is in. Are you using gm fluid, or Valvoline. Heard track guys have used the Valvoline with good results.

Haven't tried Valvoline yet but I might hell of a lot cheaper than GM, Plus I've seen folks say trans runs smoother & quieter,

Been running Valvoline DCT fluid with smooth shifts for 2 years.

Don't track, stopped with the track fill last 14K miles. Without the extra 2 quarts (might be in the head) shifts better.

Running GM fluid as I am in warranty and don't need GM to deny due to "incorrect" fluid. If the DCT wasn't so concerning, I'd try the Valvoline. Not for the money savings but just to see how it works.

After doing some research Valvoline is an industry leader in their field. If you run into people using it, let us know. Feedback would be nice.

Valvoline is indeed a reputable company and product finder on their website recommends their DCT transmission fluid for use in the C8.

Assuming that the transmission issues reported on the forum are from defects (components or debris, doesn't matter), and not from the transmission fluid failure, someone using Valvoline will eventually have a transmission failure while the car is in warranty, even if not caused by the transmission fluid. That is when we will find out if GM covers it. And, GM will find out, I think. Why? Because if Valvoline is being use, it was not likely done at a dealer. DIY is certainly permitted according to the manual, but in the event of an issue, one must produce receipts that support the service that was done. So those receipts will be for Valvoline fluid.

The Tremec transmission was very likely developed and tested in conjunction with and using the Pentosin/Fuchs Titan FFL-4 products. We know that the Pentosin FFL-4 became Fuch FFL4, from Fuchs literature. And we know that Fuchs makes the ACDelco product. There is safety data sheet that appears to show the the ACDelco product's "other name" was Pentosin FFL-4 (the EG in the name means factory fill and is not a different formula).
https://acdelco.com.au/gm-b2cau/cms/...0LTR%20SDS.pdf
How long has the ACDelco FFL-4 been around. Ya think it recent? Check the two attached safety data sheets. Both have an issue date of Feb 2016. Both have Fuchs and AC Delco Logos at the top. The AC Delco logos say ACDelco ATF DCTF FFL-4 at top left. But in the text, one is for the Pentosin product, and one is for the Delco product. The contents are not identical, and they do have different revision dates. But the ACDelco one has a rev date of Sept 2017, which still pre-dates the introduction of the C8 in 2019 for the 2020 model year.

The point .....the car was developed and tested very likely with the recommended fluid. The other products might be fine, might be better, but the formulas are not identical, and the car was not tested with those other products.

it works fantastic. I have a roughly 8x5 tanks inc door and it makes filter changes, and fluid draining very easy. No spills, just enough room to wiggle that filter cover off. Fluid seen on door was what splashed on my hands when the drain plug was pulled. Easy spray and wipe with degreaser.

Painful to watch the video. He did admit he should have removed the panel. I would agree. I also would drill the four corners out to have a radius there instead of square corners It is structurally better to have the corners rounded off.

Why install a door? Just make an opening to avoid removing 30 bolts.

I absolutely should have taken it off . Good idea on rounding the corners off. Just like with all things, hindsight 20/20.
