Owners choice and decision. My opinion the hatch provides protection for the DCT canister housing from road dirt and debris .

Update, my door did come open during a launch control. It needs a better lock mechanism . It didn’t hurt anything and was good for 8K miles but I didn’t have tools with me when it happened and the car is so low. Would recommend a better lock or different window.

Agree did not trust the latch lock I simply cut a strip of Guerrilla tape. Until I figure out a solution thinking an aviation style safety wire or a zip tie setup.

Did the latch rotate on its own?

I had been doing back to back launches. I am confident when I did my last fluid change it was all the way rotated. So somehow it must have vibrated over time to pop open. It’s “possible” I didn’t have it cocked all the way but I doubt it. So I’m gonna add a security device to prevent rotation.

actually thank you . Genius. Two holes for a wire tie and that’s the extra security needed.
