I ran my auto C4 for 14 years, and I got to admit, I felt kind of
guilty about it. I felt like I was cheating. I really did.
Anyway, my 97 C5 is a stick, and I feel better about myself.
Sure, I lose alot of drag races due to missed shifts, or bad launches,
but, at least now I can look at myself in the mirror each morning.
And when I do win, I know it's me, and not just the freakin' car.

Re: Stick or Automatic (Red96Coupe)
"You couldn't even say Drag racing, I get hate e-mail from the corvette purest. "
Can you imaging all the chills of the Purest when they saw this happen
:D We were the only two C1's in the drag part. We thought it would be  if we raced each other.
So here is a question; If you have a corvette challenge, should the stick cars run each other sticks and autos race autos till you have a "winner" in each? then we could have an "answer" to what is best on a single round. Sort of like box and no box. Let's level the playing field and encourage stick drivers to drag race. :nopity Ric
Please don't make this about the Corvette Challenge. The Corvette Challenge is a bunch of guys having fun with their cars to meet people and experience the power of the car. Yes we are competetive and keep points and now money is involved, but the underlying theme is fun for everyone.
There are very few multi year racers in the Challenge and the ones that are just happen to live within 30 minutes of the track and that is why they are multi year racers.
Yes the A4 has an advantage. No I don't feel it is cheating. A look at the previous winners does not show a huge advantage to A4 cars. http://www.corvettechallenge.info/allwinners.shtml . Yes there are more A4 winners than Manual winners. However there are more manual winners than you would think.
Now I have had a good year this year and can tell you that I don't have a lot of wins if any against stick drivers who missed a shift. I have won a lot of races on the tree which the stick and A4 are equal at.
As for consisitency in a manaul, that like anything comes from practice.
