February 13, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicago's City Council has approved a new, tougher ordinance aimed at reducing the number of shootings and keeping track of guns.

Gun owners are now required to report loss, theft, destruction, sale or transfer of a firearm to the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff's office.

Violators face six months in jail.

"I'm very open to any type of reform or change that deals with preventing criminals from getting access to handguns," said Mayor Rahm Emanuel, "or making sure people, when they own a gun, are responsible in the same way that they are for a car."

Anyone found in possession of a firearm without a permit will face up to six months in prison.

Ammo update, greater Chicagoland area.

As most of you 2nd Amendment enthusiasts know ammo is getting tuffer and tuffer to find, especially at an affordable rate. All the local gun stores from Cabellas, Walmart, Gats, etc, is COMPLETELY sold out of .22 long rifle currentlly, as the very affordalble caliber is probably one of the few that people are willing to shoot right now.

Update on other handgun ammo as of Saturday, Feb. 16, 2017.........GAT GUNS in West Dundee, IL, has 9mm target ammo for $14.99 a box, and .45 acp target ammo for $21.99 (but its GOING FAST) and of course prices are up a few bucks a box! They have all other caliber handgun ammo right now also (2-17-13) except they are completely out of 22 Longrifle.

I was there (GATS) late Saturday afternoon and the lines to pick up new guns and buy ammos and other gun supplies were incredibly long, at least a 1/2 hour wait. I have seen GATS and other local guns stores packed since December, but never like what I saw today (complete madness). Stupid azz gun grabbing liberals are causing the exact oppossite effect of what they are trying to achieve with all their stupid, ignorant madness. Never in the Country have guns and ammo been selling at this type of fever pitch!!!
