I'm hoping that it isn't a complete start over when I appeal. I signed up for another full 16 hour course on the weekend of the 12th and 13th so I'll get it corrected quickly. Maybe I'll have my license before Memorial day.

I'm a bit surprised that I'm not really upset by all of this. I'm actually looking forward to the class. Getting to hang out with like minded people and shoot off at least 30 rounds isn't the worst way to spend 16 hours.

The ISP is notifying the applicants that their training is invalid and their applications will be denied. The applicants will have the opportunity to become re-trained without incurring the $150.00 application fee, and will be allowed to appeal the denial by submitting a written petition through the ISP’s administrative review process.

These investigations remain on-going and the public is encouraged to file complaints. To date, 13 firearms instructors are no longer approved to teach Illinois Concealed Carry Curricula, and 425 applicants have been notified of the invalid training. Beginning today, the ISP will be posting the names of the unapproved instructors on the Concealed Carry website under the firearms instructor section.

The story says the guy was walking from his garage to his house at 2:40AM. Not a good time to be out and about.

Two males in hoodies tried to accost him, and he was able to draw against an already drawn gun, fire several times, and miss every shot? I would think they had to be close enough that you couldn't miss, especially in a gangway. I'm guessing there were no other witnesses, so nobody else saw these two guys in hoodies. How on earth could the police possibly determine that it was self defense? There must be more to the story. I wonder who the guy is related to...

b. The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 and begins at 6:00 PM. Be sure to show up by 5:15 or so to be sure that you get a seat. This meeting will be very crowded so plan ahead and get their early.

c. The antigunners who will be there will certainly attack your right to keep and bear arms and your right to defend yourself and your family from dangerous criminals. Be prepared to vigorously defend your rights! Do not let these people trample on the rights that so many brave Americans fought and died for.

d. If you see members of the media there, approach them. Tell them that you are a law abiding citizen and that you do not appreciate having your rights challenged. Tell the media that you fully support the right to self defense that you will not allow your right to defend yourself to be diminished.

Remember - only you can preserve and protect your rights. If you leave that job up to the "other guy," you will see your rights evaporate.
