I DID state that pinging the server was not an indication of the overall health status.. I did not see that someone posted the error, so if it is connection/resource based then the support staff is VERY inept as this problem has been going on for some time and if they can't properly size a server they're pretty sad... I'm sure that even in the open source world there are tools that can assist with this..

There was another post (IIRC, in the Supporting Member section) where it was mentioned that one of the IB database guys had recently left the company and they just hired a new person to replace him. Apparently he's having to learn what is there and how the bailing wire and paperclips hold things together.
If there is a lot of undocumented code and patches, it could take some time to fix things (if it can be fixed).

The connect issue I speak of is with mysql. The exact error, which someone already did post so it's not a secret, is:
So pinging the webserver/apache would not reveal that issue to the user. It does not appear to be a corrupt database, but a connection/resource issue.

Since they look to be using the LAMP(linux, apache, mysql,PHP) stack I'm willing to bet the also upgraded some software without checking what version work with what ever they got.. Open Source sucks with these types of issues and htey probably don't have a good support mechanisim in place.. That is fairly obvious..

OK, you guys! Stop that! I can build an engine or rebuild a rear suspension, but can't even begin to understand what you are describing here.
Hopefully the IB tech(s) will read your responses and get on with it!! I will take it upon myself, to extend thanks to both of you from IB; given their absence, for your observations.

What a joke this thing is. How can they expect these vendors to keep paying the bills if they can't even keep the site running? Are a bunch of open source loving script kiddies running this joint since IB bought it?
I figured I would lurk and post at 01:00 AM to avoid the dreaded "Database Error". No luck. Had to reload twice just to post this.
How long until IB realizes this is not pleasing anyone...especially the paying vendors.
When the Admins and Mods don't know when a fix is coming, there is a major disconnect. Must be an ex-AIG number cruncher in charge of IB's database management. Stepping over $10 to pick up $2.
This is ridiculous.
BTW, I am accessing from a T1 line and sometimes a DS3 line....It isn't my end.
