Techie Group
Why not make a user group (secondary) that you can "give" to people on this forum that give technical help to other members. This "group" would be able to do "attachments" to posts. Many of us post tons of tech information as answers and making it easier for that action might get more people to help in a technical way.
I give tech advice all the time and I have to post the picture, PDF, HTML on to my LS2.com server and then link the information into this forum. It would sure be simple if my screen captures of technical information from my Helms DVD could just be dropped in here as an attachment.

I guess this was a "no".
I thought it was a good idea,

Elmer, actually, your suggestion was discussed and (I believe) is still in the works. Currently, there is one member in the recently added Tech Contributor group:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/memb...-dynomite.html
I'm sure Jim (Savewave) can provide more, official, input.

J T is correct. The user group has been established to facilitate the suggestion and we have a volunteer who has agreed to start posting some tech and how-to content on the site.
As soon as he gets his content edited for upload, he'll start posting some tech threads. Once that occurs, we'll post an announcement, link to one of his threads as an example and invite others to let us know if they are interested in becoming tech or how-to contributors.
If you know of someone who should be included, let us know.

Sweet! Good luck with the plan!
I'll volunteer for this. Old people need something to stave off the Alzheimers!

The tech info that I've posted has been uploaded to my LS2 site and then I linked to the information. If I had the ability to do "attachments", I would have just dropped the info, data, PDF, HTML file on to the CF for reference.
I've done stuff like
>>C6 Fob Programming and Glove Box Slot Testing Procedures<< This is a Step action table that gives Chris' (CClive) steps for FOB programming plus items that have "jumped up" as things to do in addition to his original items. I was a training developer by trade and this is the format we used to organize long sentences of instructions.
http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=846931 Battery Connection issue.
FOB battery insertion
Link was used to answer a question about battery insertion
Data was missing from the original on CF, I went out and included the data and retyped it for a new complete file.
How to replace the wiper blade.
Most of my information is all in links to the LS2 site. Finding all of the links is a bit of a challenge!

I went to answer a question ICW the fuse block wiring for the floor interior fuse block but I can't attach pictures. So.... the scan I took of the wiring diagram is an attachment on LS2.com and I pointed the guy over there to the thread I made for his answer.
The corvette forum missed another chance to have a technical schematic answer stored on it's server.
Good luck to the techies on this site.

Looks like you embed your pictures and illustrations in your posts at other sites. Why do you take the position you can't do the same thing at Corvetteforum?
If you post a tech thread or a how-to thread at Corvetteforum, rather than linking to one at another site, we'll be glad to hook you up in the Tech Contributor user group which will allow you to attach files to your posts.
Still, such threads are much more useful if the images are imbedded at appropriate spots in the text.

My suggestion for the techie group was to give the ability to answer posts with a fast attachment in a response on the thread.
Imbedding pictures in a purely technical effort was not even my suggestion. I have those posts already made and a link to the existing post is usually my answer or response. As shown here: http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=846931
Most of the guys that answer tech stuff on here have a repository of answers that they can link to but the ability to do an attachment puts the file on THIS server and the link won't go dead if the person changes storage locations of their files or pictures.
I was making it easier to NOT have dead links on this forum that used to give answers to questions. The attachment puts the answer resident on this forum permanently.

The question was for a wiring diagram. To answer the question, I loaded the Helms DVD, captured the screen that displayed the wiring diagram, saved it as a JPG to my desktop, and would have dropped it on this forum as an attachment as I did here: http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=875885

We're following the procedure referenced in his global announcement ...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/anno....php?f=4&a=188
... and are adding a "Tech Contributor" designator under the user ID when someone posts a tech thread or a how-to thread.
