Default Kurtomac Performance Update

So heres where I stand.
Car is torn down, the Trans and Diff are at RPM being taken care of by the best.
Got a call from TJ at RPM, he said that my tranny looked great on the inside but talked me into a few (while were in here mods) so Im getting a Level 5 RPM Trans with a 30 spline hardened output shaft and conveiniently my ring and pinion got jacked when the trans shaft exploded so theyre machining my 390 gears to accept a 30 spline trans shaft
Looking forward to getting that stuff in....it should ship out from RPM next tuesday.
Now on to the motor stuff
I have it torn down ready to pull the cam. Im picking up a degree set so i can check to make sure im installed at 108-109 ICL and no further advanced because this new cam is going to be tight...
changing from a
XER 236 238 601 605 113+2 to a
LSL 235 243 620 623 111+3

Got my ARP crank bolt, new Hypertech thermostat, and Amsoil Fluids, and appropriate gaskets in the mail today
awaiting my comp adjustable pushrod to be drop shipped from comp so i can triple check my pushrod length upon finishing up this job
I have car parts all over the garage...hope i remember where everything goes, but I do know this job sux on jackstands. Heres a few pics and I'll be sure to post pics of my new Level 5 RPM trand and diff when the get back
Thanks RPM for the trans/diff build and thanks to IPS for the hookup on parts for the rest of my build
Is there a company that makes a aftermarket bushing for the diff where it sits on the rear cradle...that factory piece of rubber is pathetic
on with the pics....

Dayum Kurt, got some hours on your back and knees ahead of ya.
Of course, the end goal makes it all worth while.
Thanks for the pics and I wish I was closer to lend you a hand. If I had a garage, I'd be doing a lot more to my momo.
Keep us posted!

Things are looking good...best of luck.Just remember to air up the tires for the first few initial runs...a slight wheel spin is good...and a dead kook is...well you know, bad news!

As long as you launch it hard and get some spin. What was your launch RPM on the run you broke again?

Its smaller than all these vendor cams like the vindicator, MS3, MS4, T-Rex etc etc that everybody seems to love.

Looks great.
BTW- Is it necessary to check the PTV clearance with this size cam?

Kurt,

PFADT makes what they call a transmission brace that is essentially replaces the bottom mount on the rear. I just put one on my car. A friend has one and says it helps with wheel hop. I haven't driven my car with it yet.

Yes but I've heard from shop that installed this, you really "become one" with the road. Gonna ride rough, and some flex there is a good thing unless you're doing a track car.

i was already talking with brandon at IPS about this....more than i want to spend on something like that...i can pick up a ECS trans brace/DTE trans brace...(yes i know they do different things) but i would like a poly mount to replace the stock rubber and maybe do a dte trans brace or ecs brace....we'll see...i just took apart the valve train in slid in the new cam tonite
still waiting on the trans and diff so I'll just keep tinkerin with the rest of the project

update
Cam in last friday, lined up dot to dot on stock timing chain/gear set and tq'ed properly
-Tuesday I degree'ed the cam with the comp cams degree set...dot to dot on stock timing chain/gear it was installed at 108.5 ICL...spec'd 108 so Im satisfied with that
-Wed installed my timing cover and seated my pulley using my new ARP crank bolt, cleaned up the bolt holes for the rockers and cleaned all the ultra black RTV off the pedistals, washers, and bolts on my YT rocker setup
-I'll be reinstalling the rack tonite along with the water pump and plugs if i can find the motivation maybe a few more things to mostly finish up the engine bay stuff
-at this point im kind of tired of looking at it so thats why i lack the motivation haha
-waiting on my adjustable pushrod to quadruple check pushrod length
-got a call from RPM about an hour ago trans rebuild and diff rebuild are complete and shipping today. Will be here Monday...too bad it didnt ship yesterday I could have had her up and running this weekend
-IPS should be building me a 4" piece of tubing to run from my vararam to my tbody with a bung welded in for my IAT sensor...running SD so IM deleting the maf restriction
-I guess i just lack the adjustable pushrod, catback gaskets, and diff friction modifier

question i have 2 4oz bottles of redline friction modifier should i use that or try and stick with amsoil (75w90) which is what im putting in my diff and trans (ATF)...and how much friction modifier should i add?

Thats all the updates for now, wish me luck tonight guys

Kurt

oh yea...RPM was nice enough to hook me up with a RPM transmissions T-Shirt and send my broken parts back to me for garage decorations/reminders not to break again!

Thanks RPM transmissions
