Drove the 76 big block with side pipes to pick up my 12 year old from school. Kids and parents thought it was awesome. Best compliment came when we drove up the street heading home, the wife was standing outside waiting to go for a walk. She said I looked so f@cking cool coming down the street. .
Got my driver side sport mirror off, and my freshly repainted replacement bolted in. Also replaced the outer door handle while i was in there.
Now to get the rusted screws on the outer wipe to come out, get that replaced, and figure out how to get the door glass back in... then repeat on the passenger side.
Pulled the windshield wiper switch and disassembled/cleaned/reassembled it today, and lo and behold my wipers work right. Would have been nice yesterday when I got hit with a little rain off and on driving 50 miles up to my mother's place and back. Meh, next time I won't have to turn the wipers to max and then push in on the switch to get them to wipe a few times, then get confused about whether to go back into hiding or not :p
While I had the cluster out, I pulled all the bulbs and cleaned the contacts with a little 600 grit wrpaaed around a small flat blade screwdriver. Now both my turn indicators work, and I can see the other half of my tach at night.
Also pulled the headlights and put the cans in the right order, and got them aimed a little straighter. I just realized last night how wonky they had been aimed, lol.
Finally got the AN fittings welded to the power steering pump case and now it's cooling from powder coating.
Might actually be able to re-assemble it this week and plumb it into the new cooler and back into the steering / hydroboost system.
Still lots of stuff to do but the weather is starting to come around so best be getting things back together

According to my wife.. I have way too many toys so 'what did you do to your C3 today?' is often a case of 'what I didn't do' to my `76. Doesn't usually need much done to it actually, which works out good because I'm busy fixing some minor issues on my 50 F1 Ford pickup right now, customising a golf cart and building a half-size Ford 8N scaled replica to go with my full size one, and also putting another 5.0 Ranger together. So that stuff has my attention. I'm doing a little `96 reg cab Splash step side this time. It's gonna be fast and
Installed some new valve cover gaskets from Mahle. Good fit and quality. No leaks. Amazed I got it done at all with my son and daughter helping me out by reorganizing my socket set while I worked. Time for some manfold detailing and engine bay cleanup.
Fiddled, tweaked carb idle mixture & ignition timing. Recently bought an INNOVA 5568 - very slick. I like it. Harbor Freight vac gauge seems to be worth the $10 or whatever it cost.
The '69 is running beautifully. After a few test rides I topped off the gas, parked it in the garage and sat there drinking beer admiring it until I had a hard time staying on the stool.
I removed the door panel on my 79 to align the windows. While the panel was off I decided to try to dye the black (or what once was black) badly faded carpet pad on the lower part of the door.
I used a mixture of Rit and hot water.
The carpet looks new!
Received my new Quick Fuel, Q-850 carb for the 496 build.
Its going up on the shelf with the rest of the parts until the build begins.
I only need a few more items for the motor, then I will begin collecting parts for the TKO-600 conversion from TH-400.
Had a 4 wheel alignment done. This completes the job I started about 6 weeks ago. New strut rod bushings (polyurethane gone bad), replaced with rubber and new rubber rear spring cushions. On to the front end where everything was replaced, springs, ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends and sleeves and idler arm. Plus cleaned up and painted things while I was under there. Glad the job is finished?
Now I have to figure out why my hi speed position on the A/C fan stopped working. Does it never end?
Aired up two flat tires on my project 71 and drove it up on the trailer and covered it with a car cover and tarp. It will set for another year or two before I get around to the restoration.
