There is always the Monitor Merrimack if you don't want to do the HRBT. That one is usually much easier on traffic.

Ron!
How are y'all doing?
M&M BT is generally pretty good, but it is a long haul from there to Jenro's
Route 164, just south of college drive off of I 664 is ok to get you into Portsmouth
I'll tell you what scares me...I expect that in the next two years congestion between Norfolk/va beach/Chesapeake and the Penninsula will become so bad that we will once again become a divided region like we were when the HRBT was only two lanes and had a toll on it.
From a business standpoint, I am getting ready to forget trying to do business on the southside and concentrate instead on the Newport News to Charlottesville corridor

Say Hi to Donna

Hey Jack, Yeah it seems like the last few times I went across the water it just keeps getting worse. That is the main reason I pretty much stay over here now. Of course with the price of gas edging closer to the $3.00 a gallon is helping make that decision a little easier. What really sucks is I like Yorktown and Williamsburg a lot. Maybe once I retire and Donna gets a real job we can move over to that side of the water. Of course if that ever happens you might as well throw in the towel.
Hey Ron, HamCrab and anyone else... probably see you there.. I'm gonna try showing mine.. will be our first with the '73. It sounds like it will be good, and hopefully not too hot. I will definitely be by to see those vintage tags...
Kewl deal .... I have some very nice unissued 73's that will look good on your ride :-). They are shooting for 400 cars this year .... been in the mid 300s for the last few.

You got any 79's ?? I'm still trying to decide how I want to register my car..

Hum...............1/2 acre behind my house I could part with

Even if I don't put them on I would like to have a set... see you there...

Unfortunately the law only allows registration of plates with EMBOSSED year ... which translates to 1975 or 73 back ... we were deep into stickers by 79 . Only options are the DMV issued antique tags (old school white on black or newer style blue on yellow).

Ron
and everyone!
Looks like life for many of us maybe returning to normal here soon, so keep your eyes open for some RATPACK Spur Of the Moment{SPOM} cruises coming up here in September! Generally SPOM cruises involve meeting in Newport News near I 64 and J Clyde Morris Blvd ( at the Burger king) around 10 am and then going somewhere incuding lots of twisty back roads. Sometimes through Charles City County; Sometimes a pleasant ride down the Colonial Prkway then across the Jamestown Ferry and then some really wild backroads either toward Hopewell or toward Smithfield (that trip includes the famous backroad fron Ivor to Smithfield)
I recently had the pleasure of driving with a new Ratpacker (portdawg) on some of these roads, and I think he can answer any questions you newer ratpackers may have
Stay tuned
Really looking forward to getting on the road again
seeya
Jack

Did someone say SPOM? Jack I'm glad you explained to Ron what that means. He probably thought it meant Save Petroleum for Only Midyears!
Sounds good to me. Maybe if we get enough interest, we can invite Lars to come out and tune some cars.
That's be great to get Lars down here. I worked on getting Lars down here but there seemed to be a much stronger demand in NoVA, so that's where we held the event in May.

I can officially say, my C3 is tuned by Lars!
Maybe we can get together sometime and you can share a bit of his wisdom? I know my car needs it..
OK everyone, I talked about getting together for a cookout and Meet&Greet earlier in this thread. I'd like to set something up for Sep 17 at the Kiln Creek Park in Yorktown about 1 pm. How many of you can make it? This would be a covered dish/bring your own meat to BBG cookout. I'll supply the grills and soft drinks (if you want beer, you'll have to bring it). It's open to all corvettes (although I am a little partial to C3s ).
The park has two ball fields, a soccer field and a playground for the kids if any come.
Need to know soon to see if I need to reserve the small pavillion, but I will have one pop-up shelter.
Anyone planning on the HD Carshow Saturday (I'm assuming there will be a show this weekend)? If so, do you want to meet at Walmart at Victory and Rt 17 about 6:15-6:30 pm and go in together?
