Ive had mine up to 6900 but I try to keep it around 6500-6600. Our valve springs are a little better too so that helps. With weaker springs yo ride would float a valve at that rpm and then say bye bye motor.

They can handle "high" rpms if certain areas are taken care of. like batmobile said the valve springs. The stock rod bolts are another weakness to spinning that high continuously. I thought it was weird that the rods and pistons broke and the rod bolts were still intact!

Im not sure if the bottom of the block is destroyed. there is a good chunk taken out of the sleeve and block but not so far up where the rings will make contact. hopefully if it can be bored and re sleeved and make a 383 out of it. Anyone know a machine shop that could tell me otherwise?

Hopefully you can save the block. I guess if not you could always go with an LSX block and go with a 406 or 440 and forge it. you wont have that problem with that setup.

I know there are a few in Moore and Norman. My buddy recommended B&M racing I believe but I dont know if they bore and sleeve. There number is 405-519-5283.
