Insert your tool on the outside of the contact (lug) and push down as you push the wire up.  Can be tough to do with only 2 hands. You can feel when the tool slides past the tab on the lug.

Found the reinforcement would not seat in the inside of the new old pulley. Left it out.

Cleaned and painted everything (pump, pulley, fan, etc.) up for reassembly. Put the new pump on to trial fit it and found the pulley did not align well with the crank pulley. Put the new and old pumps on the bench and found the shaft on the new pump is about 3/32” further out than the old Townada pump.
The new Made in China pump rocked on the bench as the mating surfaces appear to not be square. I had already painted it, so returning it would be starting all over and they didn’t have anymore in
