The changes to the 1966 Corvette were subtle. The hood, rocker trim, and fender vents were carried over from 1965. To tell a ’66 from a ’65, you’ll need to take a look at the front end.
The two most noticeable changes in 1966 were the switch to an egg-crate grille insert, which replaced the horizontal bars that had remained with the Corvette since 1963. In addition, a small “Corvette Sting Ray” emblem was added to the left front corner of the hood.
