A recent post on our forums has brought the C7’s 8-speed automatic transmission into the spotlight. The details are a bit cloudy, despite much ballyhoo about poor Chevrolet customer service and the car having covered less than 4,000 miles. Now this might be one of those cases where you have to look at an Internet post with a grain of salt.

So far there have been some niggling problems with the C7; of mention was the non-Z51 equipped transmission overheating. But we’ve not seen too many reports of the transmission completely leaving you stranded.

The 8-speed automatic has been in production for quite some time and has also been used in several other cars and there hasn’t been much reporting of failures of this sort. Perhaps it may be that when an owner does have an issue with the car, it is swiftly taken care of by Chevrolet. In the post, we hear a bit of moaning about Chevrolet service, but we are still in the midst of finding out exactly what fate awaits this user’s automatic transmission. All we can say is we hope it gets fixed!
