2015 C7 Corvette Versus 2015 E63-S AMG Mercedes
The C7 Corvette is a fast car. Its LT1 engine is brilliantly tuned to deliver an experience that isn’t so much a traditional muscle car, as it is a rival for the Porsche 911. And that’s exactly what the engineers at Chevy wanted when they designed the new Corvette. They wanted to get away from the world of drag-race-only Corvettes, and properly take on the Germans. However, along the way, they might have strayed a little too far from their core audience, as shown by the video below.
Here we have a 2015 C7 Corvette going up against a 2015 Mercedes E63-S AMG at the drag strip. It’s closer than you might imagine, even though the ‘Vette’s horsepower numbers are about 100 below the E63’s.
Unfortunately, the Corvette gets beat by the German sedan. Instead of the Chevy engineers going after the Germans, it seems as if the Germans were going after the Americans. What do you all think of this, should we have a drag strip ready Corvette? Or should Chevy continue to strive for the best all around sportscar they can make?
