Street Hunter Designs has debuted their hotly-anticipated C8 Corvette body kit, and it masterfully succeeds in adding a more determined stance and capable ride.

As soon as everyone laid eyes on the C8 Corvette, it was clear that this was new. This remarkable mid-engined C8 is thrilling; and it intrigues us still. Not only did it change the landscape of American sports cars, but its capability and power continue to keep enthusiasts rapt. While the aftermarket market saw not only the groundbreaking Corvette–but its many possibilities.

Shortly after the 2020 Corvette hit the market, many body kits hit the scene. Some were definitely good upgrades, and some … appealed to a very niche audience. After a bit of a tease, Street Hunter Designs finally released their installed custom widebody kit for the C8 Chevy Corvette. It was worth the wait. We chose Street Hunter’s deliciously menacing C8 Corvette widebody for this week’s Torque Tuesday.

From the very beginning, Street Hunter had both a very easy and difficult task: to enhance the C8 Corvette. Get it right, and it is huge, as well as seeing a dream ‘Vette through to fruition. But, no one wants to get it wrong; it is basically the automotive equivalent of putting a rainbow wig on the Statue of Liberty.

Street Hunter took time coming up with a design that would best serve the Corvette. At the helm is Jon Sibal, lead designer for Street Hunter and the major talent behind the swoon-inducing Supra widebody kit.

Recently, the company got a big boost when they collaborated with automotive writer and vlogger TJ Hunt. Hunt worked alongside the Street Hunter team in taking their C8 Corvette rendering and making the concept come to life on his gorgeous Corvette.

First and foremost, the Corvette needed to add on width. Extending the width and stance, plus laying down more rubber with wider wheels and tires will improve handling, grip, and cornering. While offering more stability and a confident ride.

There is a distinct increase in aerodynamics and aggression. Using the Corvette’s own strengths, they worked with the existing design. Which would prove difficult at times, with Hunt noting how the C8’s sharper edges were not always easy to fit as earlier, rounder generations.

To ensure a smooth fitment, the kit or components are attached before the paint. It is very clean, and feels organic and purposeful. From the front lip to the rear spoiler, every aspect of the kit is both useful and visually compelling.

Not only is it dripping with carbon fiber–including the rear diffuser–but every aspect and modification is utilized and works in harmony with the C8.  Also keeping the car tight and right is how Street Hunter incorporated many components into the Corvette’s rear end. It makes a clean, bold look. And the carbon fiber wing, and extended boomerangs on the sides emphasize the tough, aggressive swagger in the ‘Vette. Balanced, wide, low, and whoa.

Designed by and for Corvette enthusiasts, Street Hunter and TJ Hunt absolutely understood the assignment. And the resulting widebody Corvette is not only a powerful and gorgeous car, it is also a different way to experience the singular C8 experience.
