The Z06 GT3.R racecar has been unveiled and you can buy it. A 1969 ZL-1 crossed the block at over $3 million. Is the C8 Z06 worth the massive price increase over a standard C8 Stingray? A C8 is transformed by a custom wrap. All that and more are some of the big stories that came at us this week.

Corvette Z06 GT3.R Price Confirmed

GT3.R

If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. The stunning Z06 GT3.R racecar was unveiled at the Daytona 24 race last weekend. The good news is that Chevrolet plans to sell these track-only racecars to the public. The bad news is that it will cost you $735,000. That makes it the most expensive Corvette ever sold by Chevy. The company needs to build at least 20 of these for homologation purposes. And so far, demand for the car has been several times that. Muscle Cars and Trucks has all the details, and you can read them HERE.

Must Watch Video: C8 Stingray Better Value Than C8 Z06

When the C8 Z06 finally hit the streets the automotive press as well as enthusiasts all went a little weak in the knees. The flat-plane crank engine. The eye-popping performance. This was the ultimate Corvette. But it is also quite expensive and nearly impossible to get unless you ordered years ago or are willing to pay a five or six figure markup. But the regular C8 Stingray is a great car in its own right. Does the Z06 distinguish itself enough to make it worth the added cost? Watch the video and see.

Forum Thread of the Week: C7 Wheel Gap Woes

C7 Corvette

A member recently started a thread because he felt that the C7 Corvette has enough wheel gap to qualify it as an SUV. Of course, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but the question remains is there room for improvement in that area? Would you lower the car just for looks? Or do you feel you need to further sharpen the handling? Every modification has its tradeoffs. The debate continues. If you are interested, you can join the discussion HERE.

1969 Corvette ZL-1 Becomes Third Most Expensive Corvette Ever Sold

ZL-1

RM Sothebys recently auctioned off a rare 1969 Corvette ZL-1. The car sold for a staggering $3.14 million. The legendary L88 engine was essentially a race engine in a streetcar. But selecting that option back in 1969 nearly doubled the price of the car so very few people chose it. Hence the rarity and the high price. To read all about the auction result as reported by Yahoo News HERE.

Must Watch Video: Custom Wrap Transforms C8 Corvette

OK, so maybe you can’t afford the 1969 ZL-1 or the C8 Z06 GT3.R. Maybe you have a run of the mill C8 Convertible. Nothing wrong with that as it is still a fantastic car. But if you want it to stand out from the crowd you might want to consider a custom wrap. The possibilities are nearly endless, and the results can truly transform the car. Watch the video above for inspiration.

Corvette Racing Responds at 2023 24 Hours of Daytona

C8.R

The 2023 IMSA season is underway and our friends at Corvette Racing are back with the C8.R. It finished a strong second in the GTD Pro class. And it led for 201 of the 729 laps it completed. At the end of the day the C8.R finished 3.9 seconds behind the class winning Mercedes-AMG GT3. Obviously, the team wants to win and will not rest until it does. But for the first race of the year the car had a solid outing and showed some promise. Our friends at GM Authority covered the event and you can read all the details by clicking HERE.
