Countdown to Mecum Indy 2025 (May 9-17): Dr. Mark Davis Collection, Plus Hundreds of Corvettes

Only one more week to wait until Mecum Indy 2025 offers up another chance to buy the Corvette of your dreams!
Full disclosure: Mecum Indy 2025 is a CorvetteForum sponsor.
It’s springtime in Indianapolis, friends, which can only mean two things… The Indy 500. And Dana Mecum’s Original Spring Classic auction, which turns 38 this year, if you can believe it. Mecum Indy 2025 is set to kick off one week from today, May 9, and run through May 17, with over 1,800 automobiles set to cross the auction block. (A number that doesn’t include all of the road art, tractors, and motorcycles.)
Now, here at CorvetteForum, we tend to focus on all things MOPAR! Just kidding, it’s Corvettes, as the name implies. And while the 38th Original Spring Classic is brimming with collector cars of all makes and eras, let’s dive into some of the event’s most exciting Corvette auctions.
5 Unrestored Corvettes from the Dr. Mark Davis Collection

At the top of the list, we have five minty-fresh, award-winning, unrestored Corvettes from the Dr. Mark Davis Collection, all scheduled to cross the block Friday, May 16. Mecum’s content team wrote up an incredible summary of Dr. Davis and the five Corvettes over HERE, which I highly recommend reading. But here’s the quicker version. Dr. Davis collects only “the most original, well-documented examples of this iconic American sports car.”
So what’s crossing the block?
1962 Corvette Convertible (LOT F229)

A Bloomington Gold Silver Certified 1962 Corvette Convertible (LOT F229) with its original window sticker and a documented 89,000 miles on the odometer. This four-owner beauty also includes several items from the first owner, including the owner’s manual, California license plate, and an “original manufacturer Black tag from the seat bottom dated Friday, February 10, 1961.”
2004 Corvette Convertible (LOT F226)

Next up, we have a 2004 Corvette Convertible (LOT F226) with only 5,705 documented miles. This C5 Corvette was a one-owner car until 2022, when it joined the Dr. Mark Davis Collection. It includes “all maintenance receipts since new,” the original window sticker and build sheet, and the ONLY things that aren’t original today are the tires and the new battery. (Both smart choices, if you ask me.)
1967 Corvette Convertible (LOT F229)

Moving on, this 1967 Corvette Convertible (LOT F229) was a one-owner Corvette until 2023. (Can you imagine???) This L79 / 327 V8-powered C2 has traveled only 23,157 miles since new, and it includes the original dealer purchase order and invoice, a numbers-matching drivetrain, and its original Sunfire Yellow paint.
1967 Corvette Coupe (LOT F228)

Next, let’s talk about this 1967 Corvette Coupe (LOT F228), which is one of only 21 1967 Corvettes to win the NCRS 5-Star Bowtie Preservation Award. With only 32,219 miles, this 390 horsepower 427 V8, 4-speed manual C2 started life as a dealership demo model before being sold to its first owner in September 1967. This Silver Pearl coupe was maintained in a climate-controlled garage by its original owner for 38 years and appears to have won every award imaginable for survivor condition automobiles.
1969 Corvette Convertible (LOT F227)

Last, but not least, we have an unrestored, 1969 Corvette Convertible (LOT F227). With only 37,207 original miles, this Bloomington Gold Survivor Certified C3 Corvette features a 350 horsepower 350 cubic inch V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission as well as several original items from 1969, including the window sticker, keys, several brochures and instruction manuals, and maintenance logs with receipts.
Other Corvettes to Check Out

Moving on from the Dr. Mark Davis Collection, Mecum Indy 2025 looks to be offering nearly 300 Corvettes in total. At a glance, we see a lot of C2s and restomods, but you’ll definitely find a lot of interesting models from many different generations. Here’s a quick look at some of our favorites that we’d love to see in our garage one day —
- 1967 Corvette Convertible 427, 4-Speed (LOT S322) — Is there anything more American than a red 1960s C2-generation Corvette with a 427 big block V8? It’s even got a 4-speed and factory a/c!
- 1991 Corvette ZR1 (LOT S280) — No reserve and no world on mileage, we have what appears to be an extremely clean, driver’s quality C4 ZR1, a rare Corvette that used to beat up on the Ferraris of its day.
- 2010 Corvette ZR1 3ZR (LOT S279) — One of the greatest Corvettes in full 3ZR trim and only 13,515 miles? YES! (Pictured above.)
- 2023 Corvette Stingray VIN 001 (LOT S268) — Not the most important VIN 001 of 2023 (that went to the Z06), but still, here’s a Stingray with a warranty and one of the most coveted vehicle identification numbers of any given model year.
- 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe (LOT S199) — The only known red-on-red 1967 Corvette L88 with only 11,988 miles??? Get some cash ready if you want to own this rolling piece of American history.
- 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (LOT W294) — A 2009 C6 Z06 with only 8,431 miles? Get those LS7 heads fixed up and enjoy the crap out of this one (pictured below).
