Famous comedian, actor, and car collector adds one seriously amazing 1959 Corvette Restomod to his collection. (Don’t crash this one, Kevin!)

As many are already aware, comedian and actor Kevin Hart is a big-time car guy. Hart already has a pretty nice collection of vintage muscle cars, including a sweet Barracuda restomod that his friend, unfortunately, drove off a cliff a couple of years ago. Now, Hart has added this incredible 1959 Corvette restomod to his collection following this past weekend’s Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. Let’s just hope he doesn’t let anyone else drive it.

Lot #1358 hammered for a stout $825,000 at the auction, which is obviously a lot of coin. But this particular 1959 Corvette restomod appears to be well worth it, especially for a wealthy celebrity like Hart. For starters, it’s really only a C1 in terms of its body and interior, while everything mechanical is essentially brand new or rather close to being new.

That starts with what powers this classic – a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 ripped from a brand new C8 Corvette, which is mated to a 4L75E automatic transmission. That thoroughly modern drivetrain is fitted to a Cadillac Gray-painted frame fitted with an Art Morrison C7 independent front suspension with Strange coilovers. Meanwhile, Wilwood supplied the brakes, which feature 14-inch rotors and 6-piston front calipers.

The exterior of the 1959 Corvette restomod looks like a polished jewel thanks to immaculate bodywork and a very attractive shade called PPG Franny Green with Global High Solids clear on top. The whole thing rolls on a set of one-off EVOD wheels designed to look like the originals, albeit with real knock-off centers, which are wrapped in shaved white wall Nitto tires.

The interior is equally immaculate and mostly original in appearance, though it features a host of modern updates including Dakota Digital gauges, a new stereo made to look like the original 1959 Wonder Bar model with Bluetooth, a JL amplifier, subwoofer, and focal speakers. Throw in a gorgeous matching soft top stitched in Chocolate Brown Stayfast material, and you’ve got one of the nicer C1 restomods we’ve seen in a while.

Thus, it’s no surprise that it caught the eye of Kevin Hart, as well as a number of other eager bidders. This is the caliber of car that deserves every penny of its lofty hammer price, though it’s still difficult for most of us to swallow. But then again, we are neither rich nor famous.
