No Kill Like Overkill: Meet the 2014 Callaway Corvette SC610
A supercharger belongs in a Corvette’s engine bay as much as beer belongs at a Super Bowl party. Corvettes and superchargers go so well together, it’s almost a shame the base Corvette isn’t supercharged … hey, I said “almost”.
Callaway is one specialty manufacturer that understands a supercharged ‘Vette is about as smile-inducing as a wild night out with a Victoria’s Secret model. As a result, the tuner has been hard at work on its newest creation, the Callaway Corvette SC610: a 610-horsepower, supercharged speed glutton that’s crying for a flogging with your right foot. Equipped with an Eaton TVS (Twin Vortices Series) supercharger partnered with a high-flow intake and stainless steel exhaust, the Callaway Corvette makes 556 lb-ft of torque, and can hit 60 mph in an estimated 3.4 seconds on the way to an 11.0-second quarter-mile at 125 mph.
Unlike most tuners, Callaway offers all this extra oomph with a standard three-year/36,000-mile warranty, or an optional five-year/100,000-mile extended powertrain service contract.
Anyone who drives one of these SC610s will probably say to themselves, “Having this much fun should be illegal.” While saying that, they’ll realize the speeds at which they’re traveling are beyond illegal. For all the details about the newest Callaway Corvette, check out the press release below.
