C1 Price too good to pass up?
I have just been offered a chance to buy a '59 C1 that my dad used to own. It is white with red coves with white tops, hard and soft. Car was repainted a couple years ago, not sure on the extent IE body removed from frame etc. Currently has a 327 and an auto, but comes with the original numbers matching engine. Price is 43 CAD/33000 USD using the exchange rate today. I would expect it to be a "driver" in excellent condition, I have only seen it on the road once in the last couple years since it has been redone.
When my Dad owned it it was all original minus the engine. I expect it to be much the same. I do know the interior has been updated, again not sure to what extent.
I am going to look at it today or tomorrow, any suggestions on what to look for?
Trevor.

Sounds like a fair price if it's a nice looking car. Be sure to look at the frame by the kickups in front of the rear springs. Rust holes or patches really cut the value of the car.

Sounds reasonable and the fact that it was your dads car is a plus for you.
Check the ends of the rear cross member for rust damage. If bad it can be replaced,

Very nice cars Jim! I picked up the '59 today. It was not quite as nice as I anticipated but still worth the asking price in my mind. Took this pic before I tucked her away in the shop:
And in the interest in full disclosure, I too own both of my Dads old cars now. The other is this '70 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed

Good deal, I'm surprised he didn't market it in USD. Most of us Canucks are doing that if we sell.....

If I am reading this right, You say your Dad did not have the original engine, but the current owner/seller did. Did he manage to find the original engine?

Actually when my Dad had it he(we) pulled the original motor as it was beyond tired and replaced it with a fresh 327. The original motor was sold along side the car, so while it has been replaced, it is still with the car if I want to put it back in for originality.
